I've been scatterbrained in gaming.

Bit of MWO, started Witcher 3 today, excitedly waiting for Battletech.

And I always have Oblivion installed.

Just picked up Golf Story.  Not bad so far.

As for something always installed on my PC?  Probably Pinball Arcade. I can always hop in, play a few games, and leave it.

Into the Breach looks good, but I figure it will be dirt cheap at the next Steam Sale. It does look perfect for Switch, though.  If it released for that, I'd probably pick it up immediately.

That game kicks ass, aside from a few frustrating missions that had me pulling my hair out. Also, be warned that the last act of the game basically didn't get made, so don't expect a great story payoff to everything, although Quiet's final mission is one of the best.

Love that game. In the tutorial, on the very hole, first try, I got a hole in one, and the dad was like, "holy crap." LOL

Any thoughts from the Dangerously Elite folks on the big update this week?

Haven't tried it yet, busy working - but I finished the latest book this evening, so I'll be able to get some stick time this weekend.

I've been playing the hell out of FTL lately.  I didn't think I'd get so hooked on such a simple game, but getting it on sale helped.

Still pounding away at Tactical Monsters. Going back to do all the adventure missions and get a Gold rating for every stage so I can get the big Purple Chest bonus. Surprisingly fun for a free game. Though at some point I'm going to need to join a guild, but I have no idea how to choose one. Anyone want to join me in a Fark guild?

Mucking about in Elite Dangerous with all of the changes.

Final Fantasy IX: working through it.

Finished AM2R. I highly recommend it.

Deus Ex (the original) will always have a place on my computer.

I have been playing Tales of Maj'Eyal off and on over the past few months. It was free, but amazingly in-depth for freeware.

It's a turn-based sword-and-sorcery game ("Roguelike"), wherein different classes and humanoid races get unlocked by completing various quests and tasks. These, in turn, make the game "easier" to complete.

I recently unlocked the Necromancer class, and have been having fun with that.

If you donate to the game developer it unlocks a couple features, like the "vault" in your castle where you can store powerful items you find. When you are a warrior, you find lots of magic wands you can't use; when you are a wizard you find swords and armor you can't use. But if you store them in your vault, and start with a different character class, you can equip powerful items found in different "incarnations."

For a free game, it is pretty fun.

Working my way through the new Stellaris update.  I've found that you need to turn down the space-lanes to about 0.75 or 0.5 to actually create strategic choke points that make defensive strategies viable.  And that they've buffed up the end-game crises quite a bit, so be prepared for the swarm.  Not like it will help.  Even at 1x strength, they showed up with so many 30-70k fleets that it was pointless to continue.

As far as what will always be installed, no matter what:
1) Skyrim
2) A couple Total War games.  Maybe Medieval 2, Empire, First Rome. I just love the grand battles.
3) Rust.  It's just sometimes great to mess with people for no reason and laugh at the reactions.
4) Rimworld. Because losing is very entertaining.
5) Whatever is the best iteration of Civ in the moment.

The only thing I've used is the GalNet radio broadcasts, and they're pretty neat.

I finished my jaunt around the California Nebula and the surrounding systems. I sold a chuck of exploration data (including one system that got me $1.7m alone!) and now I'm just...cruising. I'm heading towards the vicinity of the Witch Head nebula and see if I can scan and grab out there for a little bit. I've got a Cobra Mk III outfitted decently for exploration and so far I haven't had any troubles. I wouldn't mind doing some other stuff, but I don't really have the funds for anything at the moment (only $17m in the bank at the moment) so I'll just explore a few dozen systems and hope to find some neat stuff.

I... I remember that game.

Also, my Anaconda got torn up during a wing assassination mission last night. One of our wingmates dropped into the wrong place and so we just had two of us on a mission apparently scaled for three until our third was able to get himself back in gear. The AI has apparently been coded to intentionally target power plants as mine was dropped down to 14% so I ended up constantly shutting down (in part because I had foolishly forgotten to set power priorities).

Fortunately, my fighter was able to offer some slight defense while my other wingmates came in and cleaned up. I limped away with 34% hull and a massive repair bill.

I have screenshots of my heavily damaged 'conda but I forgot to upload them so I will have to put them up later this evening.

Also, I picked up an Alliance Chieftain along with a friend, then A-rated its core internals. We are still looking for suitable PvE hardpoint and utility configurations for it as we plan to use them for bounty hunting. I do not suppose that anyone else has played around with them yet?

I like the commodity market upgrades a lot - it makes trading WAY easier, especially like if you're returning from completing a mission and you just want to fill up with the most profitable thing without putting too much thought in it.

I also think I like engineering a lot more too.  Yes, you have to rank up each module from grade 1 to grade 5, but if you have level 5 rep with the engineer, sometimes you can increase the grade with a single roll.  And each roll always improves, so there's no longer a need to roll 100 grade 5s to get the best one.

One of my most favorite improvements is the new caps on Materials.  You no longer have to worry about running out of room.

Also - missions rewards are better.  You can chose whether or not to get cargo or credits or rep or materials (you get to pick one of three possible combinations)

I'm just about to beat Golf Story, but this last course is farking with me.  (It doesn't help that my cat has decided to jump up on my lap every time I'm trying to make a drive)

I had a pretty bad week last week and decided I needed joy in my life and bought a switch.  Mario Odyssey and Golf story have been treating me well, and Breath of the Wild lies waiting.

Well, I was playing Stellaris: Apocolypse.  Getting the hang of the new expansion system, been pretty fun so far.

Then I bought Into the Breach.....

It's so simple yet so complex.  It's Kaiju chess.  Push a Psion with my brute mech onto a Vek hole and watch it not only die but block emerging Vek as well?  Immensely satisfying.  Making a choice between my favorite pilot dying, an objective getting destroyed, or taking a hit to my power grid which is down to two bars left?  Madness.  Not to mention do I do a mission that is worth two rep, one rep and one power, have a break with just a one power mission that has shielded buildings, or go for broke with the two rep and a reactor core reward?

From what I've read, they're mighty similar to an FAS, maybe a bit cheaper

Bought a Snes Classic after playing one at a buddy's house, love it - especially the save state system and how quickly everything boots up. Been blowing through Super Metroid (which i've played probably a dozen times) and think i'll tackle Final Fantasy 3 after that which i've been meaning to beat for a very long time.

I have got more than what I paid for out of the game, it's definitely worth more than the $15 price tag. Its nice because not only does it scratch my turn based strategy itch, it does it so well.  Not to mention I can load it up and play one or two missions in about 10 mins, so it's great for when I have a few minutes to kill.

Between a Humble Book Bundle (Functional Programming) and getting an 8" phablet earlier this week, I spent my new game money which would have gone towards the new Stellaris DLC (and a few other ones I still need).

I plan on getting the phablet set up to play PSX and SNES games with a PS3 controller with some sort of syncing method to my PC so my save states, etc transfer between the two.  That's my gaming plan for the next week.

I'm an app gamer now mostly. A Girl Adrift is an app version of the pretend "flood" game that my bro and I played when we were younger. I like Survive too, but the hunting function is a bit broken, so I'm waiting for the guy to update it. Probably another year or so.

I'm looking forward to getting our PC back so I can play Alpha Centauri again. It's kinda meditative the way my fingers fly over the keyboard. Eventually I'd like to get something that could handle Diablo 2 being installed on it too. Ah, nostalgia.

Need a new phone though. I can't even update the regular apps because google sucks so much space on an android phone. Hopefully I can get a good deal on an upgrade soon.

Stellairs update. I love the changes so far, even if I'm still getting crushed by my enemies.

Still working on my sci-fi story, my wife says i should just call it a book, now 35k words in. Never thought I had that in me. No idea how long it'll be when i'm done but I'm enjoying the process of getting it put down.

Finishing up AC4: Black Flag.

It's really been a hell of a run, but I'm ready to finish up the story quests.  Then I was thinking about moving to a Final Fantasy.  Not sure which one though.  I have 6, 7, 9, and 10 on PC.

If anyone did NOT get the humblebundle this month and would like to trade something for Dark Souls III, let me know.  I forgot to put my subscription on hold this round and I don't play Dark Souls.

Eek =\

My base 2.0 UNE game is going pretty well but I'm getting close to crisis time and am fielding considerable less than that. Thought being in the top 3 relative power empires would be enough.

The patch notes on the opt in beta had some changes that envelope math made me figure would cripple those guys so I'm rolling a devouring swarm from grins this morning. Might try a more normal empire with crisis scaled down a hair here in a bit, three day weekend with no kiddo so I'm planning on drinking and letting my hygiene suffer.

Bought Into The Breach  on Wednesday, logged about 10 hours or so (about a dozen games).  I have winning down pat on easy mode with a lot of the mechs unlocked.  I have a serious love-hate relationship with the lightning whip mech.  The game is awesome in many, many ways.  Simple and Complex.

I have an SNES Classic with a few extra games added.  The kids still love playing Super Bomberman on it (Battles, not the missions).  The like the idea of a 4-player Super Bomberman, but I don't think it's possible with the SNES Classic.

Looking forward to a weekend with no Kids birthday parties and no sleepovers.

If you're on a GSM network, the ZTE Trek 2 is an 8" phablet with an unlocked bootloader (after taking the 7.1.1 update) with stock root, Lineage, AOKP, & only costs $100 -- 8 1.5ghz cores, 2gb ram, 16gb internal storage, sdcard, 1280x800...not the best specs, but they're good enough for me.

It's technically an AT&T phone, but the AT&T crap can be frozen without root, removed with it, or the rom changed to something else since the bootloader is unlocked.  You gotta be good with Google because there isn't a whole lot of info out there on this phone outside of a clusterf*uck of an XDA thread.

Stellaris.
I just bought it a few days before the update, but the update was OK because my first playthrough empire was being overrun. I'm still learning which things need to be managed and which things I can prioritize, so I'm pretty sure this empire is doomed as well. The hyperlanes do allow for choke points, but I skipped a system and left a hole so now I've got marauders between home and the chokepoint. Their fleet has been getting away from me so I'm temporarily halting expansion to go on a military spending spree.

Still not even sure what mid-game and end-game look like.

Oh, and
10.30PM:  "I'll fire up Stellaris and play for a half hour before bed."
12.30PM "Awww shiat!"

I did unlock the Cat girl AND the Secretary last night in Deep Space Waifu, so that was awesome.
