What a horrible premise for a show, especially in today's world.

The original movie was awful in the first place.

Does this answer your question?

Murdering teenagers just isn't as cool as it used to be.

Also, Heathers showed up in the late 80s, not a time when school shootings were much more than Stephen King stories. And they even changed the ending of Apt Pupil for the movies after Columbine.

Not exactly sure what the people behind this show were going for, but I don't think it's going to turn out well for them.

Just as well. The reboot sounds like a right-wing masturbation aid.

Too bad, since the original was delightfully subversive for its time.

fusillade762: The premiere of the rebooted cult classic, now airing for free online, takes place in a universe-clearly a fictional one-where the football team is oppressed and yesteryear's fat, queer, and black victims now rule the school with manicured fists. The show feels like it was written for aging Fox News viewers who get angry about people's gender pronouns

Makes me glad I don't get the Nashville/Spike/Paramount channel anymore.

Not sure about this, but the Waco documentary they just wrapped up was pretty good.

Sorry, Waco miniseries. But they did also make a decent documentary about the siege on their website.

This is about as tone deaf as doing a remake of Death Wish, not that anyone would be stupid enough to...excuse me...what was that? Who would...oh him! Well I guess once you're one the bottom rung there's not too far to fall...Sorry, some new information has come to light. Never mind.

It has an interesting premise and could be very thought provoking if done correctly.

Sounds like a great lyric for the title song for a country-western / porno / slasher-horror crossover flick.

It's the kind of film that's ripe for a remake. The original was a cult film that had an interesting premise and a good cast, but fell short of being the great film it could have been.

Not that the remake is it, but the potential is there.

It may very well be a giant Trumpian turd. However Samantha Allen comes across as someone who really doesn't like it when anything challenges her shallow world-view. I guess I'll have to watch it myself.

Dear movie makers:  not every movie from decades past needs a reboot.  In fact, most of them don't.

And if you don't believe me, watch the latest Ghostbusters.

So it was 8 Heathers, 75 Jennifers, 83 guys (mostly named Micheal)?  Granted, the Jennifer boom was somewhat dying when this came out, but 10 years earlier it would have worked that way.

Heathers, Johns, Mikes... but Heathers outnumbered all the others. It was bizarre. And, yes, most of them were a clique of their own. I got "invited" but declined. I was happier with the status of iconoclast.

We had an overabundance of "Lisa" and "Mike."

Was I born in the mid-60s?
Why, yes! However did you guess?

I was around but didn't see Heathers when it first came out and was a big deal.  Saw it many years later - I get why it was a thing when it came out.  It had an all-star cast of up and coming talent, and it was edgy.  But in hindsight, the whole "blow up the school" plotline kind of falls flat in a world in which that actually happens with some frequency.
