Well, what exactly is the point of playing out the NBA regular season, anyway?  One of the worst things that can happen to you if you're sort of a marginal team is to end up making the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed.  That means you're just the amuse-bouche for the Warriors or Celtics as they start their run, and you miss out on the draft lottery, so unless you can get a big free agency signing, you can't really improve.  I don't blame a team for tanking at all.

They have to pretend there was a chance the Warriors wouldn't win the championship again.

to see some goddamn basketball

If regular season sports exist for the sole purpose of figuring out who should be in the playoffs, you could cut every sport's season in half, at a minimum

If teams are rewarded long term for tanking, behavior will adjust accordingly.

Fix your farking rules.

Your comment is disingenuous.  This isn't a question of top team dynasties.  This is an issue among the lower third of teams.  Being the 10th or 12 team in your conference hurts you far worse than being at the bottom.  You are rewarded for being the best, and you're rewarded for being the very worst.  Some teams in the middle decide to fight hard to become better in the spirit of competition, and some decide to intentionally suck to increase their odds at a better season further down the line with better talent.

If one of those options is considered honorable and good for the sport and the other isn't, it's up to the league to adjust the rules so teams aren't rewarded for intentionally sinking to the bottom.  Talent disparity in the NBA is absurd, so even middle teams are going to the bottom to start over.  If teams are intentionally losing regularly - for entire stretches of the season - because they feel they have no chance to compete, this represents an existential threat to the core of the game.  And it's not hard to fix.
