They told me it would be there forever!

Well, forever changes.

For a second I thought they meant "MOVE" and was very worried.

And with it all the people whose full-time job it is to hang around the park panhandling for money in exchange for taking your photo with it.

I always pictured it bigger than so small it fits in the back of a truck like that.

Can TSOP by MFSB be far behind?

I was living in Philadelphia and just barely old enough to remember when it was happening.  I didn't understand it but it was pretty scary to watch on TV.

Pretty sure they are still there, well some of them.

Another thing Philly does better than Boston. They have a neat piece of public art as a city symbol, while we are stuck with a goddamn oil company billboard.

Philly has lots of issues. Public art is not one. Tons to see whether it is statues or interesting public murals. And no, the FARK BRADY spraypainted is not one of the murals

And Cleveland has a giant Free Stamp. I suppose it's better than pictures of the Cuyahoga burning.

Less concrete and more greenery.

Nope. That's an embarrassment to modern art. Pretty much any decoration with words on it--and that includes your wannabe-quaint-AF "Love well, laugh much, fark often" wood thing that hangs in your kitchen and your "Buttfarker" and "Buttfarkee" throw pillows on the couch--is lousy.

CSB: My only trip to Philadelphia, many years ago. We're walking somewhere, going to dinner, but doing an extended pub crawl before. We stop at a corner, waiting for traffic. Cars are turning left into the street we are waiting to cross. The block is full and one car can't clear the intersection. The woman driving lays on her horn. Some guy walking the same way as us says, "blow it some more. Maybe the whole farking street will move for you." She replies, "oh fark you" and lays on the horn again. She manages to clear the intersection, the light changes for us and we walk on. One of my companions says, "Ah, Philadelphia. The City of Brotherly Live."
End CSB.

Nope, they have "modernized" it so that there is no reason for anyone to go there except to get their picture taken near the stupid statue.

I disagree completely. It was that before the renovation. Parks in large cities are nice. Some place to go cool off, see some gardens in a place that separated you a bit from the hectic bustling city around you.

The old park was a heat reflecting concrete jungle of sadness. The new one is more of an actual park.

Another park in Philadephia that needs to be trashed is the Board Game Art Park..  It's just a relic, all concrete and not relaxing at all. No shade, and just plain outdated.

Right. I was just thinking of that hugely expensive house of his that was *fully* paid off on his Police Chief/Mayoral salary.

Then there was the "no dancing in the Electric Factory", and on and on.... Hell, a dozen or so years later, he might have switched to GOP.

Um... is Chris Christie channeling him?
