Presumably, robot dogs don't go prospecting for "treats" in the cat box, so that's definitely a point in their favor.

I look forward to the day humans can come home to robot dogs greeting us at the door with a guilty look of "OMG the Roomba exploded all over the house!  You should have seen it!"

The company's creations may have been the inspiration behind a recent episode of the dystopian sci-fi series Black Mirrorin which robotic dogs set out to kill all living things.

Oh, it definitely was:

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Loved this episode. It's inspired I assume by those Boston Dynamics videos on YouTube crossed with Night of the Living Dead?

CHARLIE BROOKER
: That's actually scarily correct. It was from watching Boston Dynamics videos, but crossed with - have you seen the film All Is Lost? I wanted to do a story where there was almost no dialogue. And with those videos, there's something very creepy watching them where they get knocked over, and they look sort of pathetic laying there, but then they slowly manage to get back up.

I believe I can program a robotic dog to do just that.

So there are two kinds of dogbot. There's the inexpensive but limited companion "animal," branded as the Hi-Fido and then there is the advanced functioning Rovertronic. It's the Rovertronic you have to worry about rising up against us.

Getting ready for work a couple of days ago, and couldn't find the puppy when it was time to go outside for the last time.  I hear a ruckus from the corner, and find her like this.  She got herself into the litter box, but couldn't get out.  She flopped down in defeat with a ginormous sigh just before I snapped this.  I pulled the box away from the corner and she trotted out as if nothing had happened.
