Well, it would be easier to get a woman's head into a man's head.

You know it would be awesome if they could make a handbag that opens up like that dummy head in Total Recall.  that would be cool.

It should be possible, as that was a practical effect, not CGI.

Ahhh the early 90s. The absolute peak of practical effects where CGI was only used to enhance shots and not create them from whole cloth.

I generally agree but it sounds like sci fi movies are swinging back to using actual props and models.

BR2049 used a lot of props and actual sets, which is good.

Practical effects have a kind of visual reality that often eludes CGI.  Not that CGI can't be amazing, but it is often resorted to now because it's cheaper and/or easier and/or safer than using practical effects, and it often shows.

Yeah, there were movies that overused CGI in the early 90s just as there are modern movies that don't. It doesn't hurt that Frank Miller is 500 years old and still schools nearly all modern action directors.

More importantly, why would China, which is as close to a gun control paradise as you might find on Earth, outside of perhaps North Korea*, need to have you place your bags in an x-ray device in order to board a *TRAIN*?

*There is a village of ethnic Miao people in China that are allowed to make, own, and use single shot muzzleloading guns as part of their cultural heritage. I don't believe there are any such villages in the DPRK.

Because they have an extensive history of bombings and knife attacks by Muslim separatists.  Also just like any other country, they have their share of nutjobs and psychopaths, and while they haven't had gun massacres, knife attacks have happened and a surprising number of people die from such attacks.

The fact that you had to ask is a testament to China's ability to control the western press, block news relating to such events and make things sound all hunky doory in China.
