You mean that's not four glasses of wine drunk?

I'm really torn about how I should view airlines nowadays.  On the one hand, there's all the stories about how badly airlines treat their passengers.  On the other hand, there's all the stories about how badly passengers behave on airplanes.  I don't know if it's a case of both sides have gotten worse or what.

Best just to lower expectations.  Air travel these days is basically a bus with wings.

TFAOur servers are temporarily down. We're doing our best to fix the problem, and expect to be up and running again soon. Please check back shortly, and sorry for the inconvenience.

Seriously, that's all that's on TFA's page.

Don't you get drunk twice as fast at airplane altitudes?

I think my citation for that might be "The Howard Stern Show", but I think I've heard it from other places.

Yes, but the effect is related to air pressure, so the airplane cabin pressure eliminates the effect.

But yes, you get drunk faster in Denver than you would in Miami.

The pressure in an airplane is equal to 6000-8000 ft. above sea level, so...

Lower prices are the worst thing to ever happen to air travel. You used to pay a butt-rapey price, and you got a nice comfortable seat, good service, and no riff-raff. With deregulation, ticket prices are low enough for the peasantry to afford, resulting in shiatty seats and people like this woman. Raise prices!

No. She flies all over the world for free and never makes a scene. That's why she's calling this broad an amateur. She paid for her ticket and still went to jail. That's bush league.

Being a stowaway is bush league. Anyone can do it.  Getting drunk enough to divert an airplane is an accomplishment. She's like a real life Sweet Dee.

Not that I'm aware of, I don't think it's really a valid comparison to the drunk gal.

Right, but the effect (sorry) between 0 and 7000 is fairly slight -- but it exists. The effect between 0 and 36000 is noticeable, but is rendered "slight" by the fact that the cabin is pressurized to 7000.

So, yes, technically you get drunker faster flying, or simply in Denver, but in both case the effect is slight enough to not really be worth mentioning.

I suppose I should have said "virtually eliminates". It's one of those things like "which side of a sheet of aluminum foil should I make face outward when I back a potato?" There is a difference, but the difference is so minute as to be negligible.

*shrug* I'm glad, it makes it affordable for the likes of me.
I never really mind bus trips, because they take me to cool places I want to be. Ditto catching a flight.

I'm sorry but she does not win worst flight. I believe that goes to the guy the defecated on the food cart. That was a flight from NY to Argentina. This was years ago now.  They were brought back to NY, git refunds for the meas and were put in a Concord.  My brother in law was on that flight. Somehow he managed to sleep through all the fun.
