Best way to deal with hot days is to drink water.  See how this balances out?

If being pro-climate change serves to divide Democrats, sure.

I also here were due for an extra cold Sun cycle sometime in the 2050's. Who knows how that will impact shiat.

Well, I guess that's settled then.

Actually they are. They would "benefit" from it. Until the methane makes breathing less fun.

I do. See: Pittsburgh, 1948. Cold deadly fog. For everyone.

Maybe some hitherto miscalculated phenomenon like isostatic ocean floor adjustment will cause additional/enhanced volcanic action will kill us all long before then.

2018-02-12 07:02:20 PM
Wait, if this is true, how come I haven't heard about it until now?

2018-02-12 07:02:42 PM

Relatively Obscure: Just yell "fake news" at the ocean.

Or make it illegal to mention in government documents.  That oughta do it.

2018-02-12 07:02:52 PM
Serious question, on that map, how could some areas of ocean be higher than normal and other areas be lower?  Isn't ocean level constant around the world?

Climate scientists will do anything for money.

Not like those totally trustworthy fossil fuel corporations.

Global warming is real.
NAH AH, IT SNOWED TODAY IN CHICAGO

Global warming is real, check out all of this proof.
YEAH WELL ITS NOT CAUSED BY HUMANS

Actually, anthropogenic climate change is real, check out this proof.
YEAH WELL SO WHAT I KINDA LIKE IT WARMER, THIS IS GOOD AND FURTHER WHAT THE HELL DOES ANTHROPOGENIC MEAN YOU IVORY TOWER WIZARD?!?!

I can do this all day, subby.  Don't even get me started on how Al Gore once took an airplane ride somewhere.

But in certain parts of the US, it was REALLY COLD this winter. Therefore, climate change doesn't exist. QED libtards.

/Please ignore the reason for the unusually cold winter, because that would require you to realize that the ocean heating, and the composition of the water changing due to melting ice from the ice caps, also plays havoc with atmospheric currents, causing things like 'unusually cold winters'.

2018-02-12 07:07:25 PM
If we have too much water why doesn't everybody just run their taps for a while so a bunch can go down the drain?

BONUS: this question was seriously asked by an older lady to a top climate change scientist, duringdthe question period after the scientist's public community lecture

/ We're farked

wearetheworld: Serious question, on that map, how could some areas of ocean be higher than normal and other areas be lower?  Isn't ocean level constant around the world?

Serious answer: Only still water is perfectly level. Oceans have currents and are constantly moving. Your coffee is not level while you're stirring it.

See, this is exactly how you know the whole thing's bullshiat. It got COLDER because the ocean is WARMER because the earth is WARMER. I don't need to be a farking scientist to know that's completely wrong. It's as bad as when a snow is extra heavy and the libs are all like "hrrr drrr it's because it's so warm!"

Hey, the science has only been out since the late 80s, but just for the sake of debate: how does this effect Exxon's wallet?

You can scream as loud as you want but humanity has responded to their impending extinction with a resounding "meh". Proving that we're a total failure of a species and deserve what's coming. Our extinction won't be a bug, but a feature of a system running as it should be. And none of us have any choice but to go down with them.

If you can't steer the car heading toward the cliff, at some point you may as well just give it more gas. So party up. It was fun while it lasted.

Parts of the Arctic were 15 to 25 degC (27 to 45 degF) warmer than average today. This kind of huge heat wave has become more and more common.

Right now, Arctic ice extent is at a record low.

Don't know about the rest of the world, but northern North America is still rising out of the earth's mantle from the ice ages. The glaciers pushed it down. Lack of glaciers is letting it "snap back".

Local gravity is also different. The seas around Greenland and Antarctic are expected to drop because of the loss of mass.

I think we need a nationally-recognized discommendation move with which we can say to a person, "You don't get to participate in this conversation any more because you're too stupid." (Not you, lennavan).

I am glad to see my mother-in-law has a fark account

she will adamantly state she does not believe in climate change but will admit that mankind has had some influence on the environment, just that we don't know how much.

then sends me a video of Cruz arguing about "the great pause"

...and my eye doctor wonders why I have gone cross-eyed since my last exam

Problem is the people who get booted from the conversation because they're stupid will get together and create their own dipshiat stuff like "alternative facts," Fox News and conservapedia.  Or the white supremacists we boot will get together and form their own political party like happened with the GOP.

But with climate change now ravaging the planet, the transition to a new economic era has to happen fast. Change of this magnitude requires political will and a profound ideological shift.

A fantastic documentary "The Third Industrial Revolution"
