Most likely not in any driveable condition. Rodents, chemical breakdown of gaskets and hoses and what not.

My dad bought a brand new Subaru in the early 70s.  Not only did I learn to drive on that front wheel drive stick, dad got over 200k miles out of it with minor maintenance.

A girlfriend of mine bought a 69 Subaru wagon for $400 back in the mid-80s. Except for some electrical problems (that her brother took care of) that thing was a rock.

I have a soft spot for Subaru. My first car was a 1988 Subaru Justy RS. That $500 car lasted me two years, which was pretty good. At 1200 cc and with a 3 cylinder engine it had a surprising amount of pep. Especially going uphill. The 4 wheel drive was welcome in icy conditions, especially as a new driver. Aside from some rust repair and replacing the gasket, it worked really well for an old car.

I had a 1987 GL Turbo sedan when I was in the Army. That car was fast for a sedan! I drove from Fort Lewis WA to North Dakota for a family reunion and it was when Montana had no daytime speed limit. I put that little car through its paces and it held up like a champ! If I could find one in decent shape I would certainly entertain buying it. dang I miss that car.

I remember then, the Justy had an ECVT, which was quite novel at the time, being a cycloidial clutch. Now that's pretty much mainstream, the Honda Civic Sport I'm buying for my Wife has one. She doesn't know how it works,  but who really does on a practical level, other than the dealer. When you get up around Santa Fe, they are very popular, I surmise with all of the lesbians living in the area, and all the snow on the roads come winter.

Growing up in New York State in the late 70's early 80's...these were all over the place.  Everyone who had one absolutely swore by it.  And, with snow tires all around, they were freaking tanks in the snow.

The first Impreza model year was 1992 so not quite 80s.

I had a '93 Impreza that I finally scrapped after 23 years and 280K miles. With original clutch.

A guy I worked with had one of those.  He was a Boise State football player and the boss was an alumnus, so Jeff got a few "perks".    I understand now that that sort of thing is frowned upon.

Got an '07 STi with nearly 90k on it. Those miles include the AlCan Highway, twice and amateur racing and I'm still on the original clutch. I believe the reviews described it as "bulletproof" when I was researching what to buy.

I had a 92 and its still my favorite car to this day but I can't think of any car that seems less appropriate to drive with a manual than the SVX.   Its a big comfy touring coupe, not the least bit sporty.  But since I bought the last NOS transmission available in the US for mine in 1999 I guess its the only option.

The only thing that car lacked was a manual. It really changes the character of the car for the better.

Except for the BRZ. But it's not entirely a Subaru. All of their other mainstream vehicles are AWD.

I own a Subaru XT... Outback XT. A turbo charged AWD wagon with 3 pedals. It's stupidly fun and fast. Plus I've got it custom tuned, but not with a damn AP. And no I don't own a vape pen.

I heard they were fun little cars so when my car was in the shop the dealer let me pick a used one off the lot to drive. They had a 90's Legacy. I had a very large vacant parking lot and that night it rained like the gods themselves were trying to recreate the famous scene from The Crying Game. I fell in love flogging that little Legacy that night. My first and only new car was an 07 STi, still in my garage. Love that thing.

I owned a 90 Legacy. had 5 speed manual and all wheel drive, and at the time I lived in Old Topanga Canyon. Great car to drive in the winding roads, mud floods. dirt roads, etc.
Goddamn car cost me 800 bucks used - it finally died at 340,000 miles.
Loved that damn car.

and the stick shift, when in gear, would move laterally up about 10-12" ... so when I put it in 5th gear, I had to say "pardon me" to my passenger as i reached nearly to the glove box to shift -  it almost looked like the Costanza "move"

I managed to get one used on the cheap. Aside from tuning they also have anti theft and valet modes. Valet limits it to 4k rpm and no turbo boost if I recall correctly. Anti theft map limits RPM's to 1500.

Always planned on modding it further but never actually got around to it. Too much fun as is, especially in the winter. It's absolutely hilarious watching it humble big bad trucks.
