my son would watch his clip show "Crashletes" from time to time, and would watch with him sometimes. Gronk is so awkward, and unnatural in front of the camera that it is endearing, and a biatcharming. While his delivery is improving, a movie would be a disaster.

CSB time:

One of the few football games I ever watched of my own volition was a Seahawks vs Raiders Monday
Night game which was hyped as a matchup between Bosworth and Bo Jackson.  I remember vividly that
Bosworth was desperately trying to portray himself as a badass with absolutely nothing to back it up
other than his own pro wrestling-style posing, and I remember seeing him completely trash talking
Jackson (who, at the time, was the most high profile NFL player).

So the game comes, and Bosworth totally shows himself to be a complete nothing, while Jackson was
nothing short of amazing, and the one image that stands out in my mind is a 91 yard touchdown run
by Jackson where I swear he slowed down long enough for Bosworth to get within arm's reach, then
he shot ahead like a rocket and over-ran the endzone straight into the entry tunnel.

I was able to find a clip of it online, and while it doesn't quite go as I remembered, it is pretty damn
funny to watch a completely gassed Bosworth be unable to lay a finger on Jackson (YouTube won't
let me embed it, so I linked to it).

I recall the 1990 game where Rod Jones (yeah, I had to look it up - but was pleasantly amused that searching for 'that one time someone caught Bo Jackson' worked) chased down Jackson and tackled him a few yards from the end-zone, when Jackson slowed down a bit thinking he was in the clear.

The part that stands out was that Jackson seemed more excited than anything that finally someone had managed to actually catch him, and was waving excitedly at Jones from the opposing sideline because he thought it was so impressive.

Jackson always struck me as someone who didn't take himself too seriously, which is probably he was
so successful.  That, and being a borderline superhuman athlete.

I disagree somewhat.  He was fairly serviceable in Walking Tall, cheap b-movie that it was, and in The Rundown right after that, both of which were early in his acting career.  He definitely had some stinkers after that, too, but, in general, he's not in films that require him to do more.  Pain & Gain is probably his best, from an acting perspective

Amazon has the Rifftrax version of Stone Cold for free, or at least they did a few months ago.  It's already a so-bad-it's-good actioner on its own, but the Rifftrax makes it even better.

Plus it has two solid villains played by quality villain actors Lance Henriksen and William Forsythe.

I like Gronk. He seems like the kind of genuinely fun guy you can hang out with and never have a bad time.

Based on what I've seen of his commercials, though, acting does not come naturally to him and it would take a lot of coaching and work to get him to the point of making a feature film starring him be even remotely watchable.

Sucks to think that if Steinbrenner hadn't screwed him over, Jackson probably would have just stuck with baseball and had a Hall of Fame career.

A couple of Christmases ago, someone gave me one of those 10-pack sets of action flicks from the 90s (Ronin, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, etc). Stone Cold was also in that set. Watching it for the first time in 20 years, it was a very entertaining bad movie. Kind of a product of its time, when studios had far more stupid mid-budget action scripts than they had people to star in them. It's a given that Arnold, Stallone, and Bruce weren't interested, but this was a script that was too stupid for Seagal and Van Damme. That's saying something. Bosworth knows his talents are limited, and he couldn't out-act Henrickson or Forsythe, so he just kicked back and had fun with it.

He would be a good fit for a role in a Hercules in New York reboot. And if he blows his lines, you can redub the part with somebody else.
