Russian downvote brigade bots in....ahh they probably already exist for other platforms and just need to be adapted.

They'll need a system like Reddit has to keep the brigading to a dull roar. My account there got shadowbanned, I think, for downvoting so many /r/The_Donald posts.

I only know this from going back to 4-5 month old posts, downvoting one, then hitting the refresh button a few times. Suddenly the votes on the old, forgotten post start jumping around, up and down each time I refresh, before finally settling in on the old number that was there before I downvoted.

This will not end well and result in a lot of unfriending. Blizzard removing downvotes made the forums half as toxic.

If someone disagreeing with you personally, or disgusting a corporate page, causes you to think you have lost a friend... I don't think you had a friend to lose.

I just want an "eyeroll" reaction for FB.

I've been wishing for a "FFS" button for years, but an eyeroll would work just as well.

How about adding "Facepalm" and "Double Facepalm" buttons?

When someone gives you negative feedback, but doesn't actually say anything, it's likely to cause a rift. You can ask why they did it, but if they wanted to explain it, they would've already. It can absolutely destroy a relationship when someone is unhappy with you but won't discuss why. The problem is not that it's hard to handle disagreement, it's that a "downvote" opens up infinite possibilities for the disapproval that's being expressed rather than communicating openly.

Plus, knowing Facebook, they will deliberately design things so it is easy to downvote by accident.

Would save a ton of time by just adding a [citation needed] button.

Now all the depressed people on FB will know exactly how much people hate them instead of leaving it all up to their anxieties.

the bare minimum for engaging in the "social" aspects  of social media should have to be higher than clicking like/dislike. It's like voting straight ticket on a political ballot.
Let's see, I know I really like 3 of the people on this ticket, and i'm good with 1, but those other 2 have a demonstrated record of voting against gay rights and voting for "enhanced" penalties for crimes that generally only affect minorities... Might as well just click yes to all of them!
Let's see, your grandma died by violent murder and that's sad, and I know you're upset, which is also sad. but you also included a vague message of hope that something good will come out of it. Might as well click Like!

Fark needs "Sad (but true)" and "Stupid" buttons.

Also, TFers should get a tally of how many Farkers have put them on Ignored, as well as an anonymous view of Farkied comments. IT would help some of us be more self-aware, and give us more value for our TF $$$

You're arguing for selective privacy?

FTFA: However, it does not affect the visibility of the post for other people and does not affect its ranking in the news feed.

So, Facebook has created a safe space, then.

How quickly can a get a psychology degree that specialized in "esteem"? Or at least a piece of paper that looks like I got one???

Cuz when the narcissistic Facebook crowd finds out what other people actually think of them... hoo boy, let's just say there's a fortune to be made...

/not you guys though... your opinions are the correct ones, and you're awesome

Reddit always obfuscates comment votes as far as I'm aware.

This should end well. Nothing speshul snowflakes love more than being told they suck. That's why Drew won't let us have one, it's mean.

(He's clearly never read the things people say instead of just downvoting. Now that shiat can hurt fee-fees in a heartbeat, if you let it.)

If someone is so damn petty to not air a grievance with you then perhaps there is no relationship there to be had or saved, especially if it's some douche on the internet that you only know from online.

If you have a problem with me, call me. If you don't have my number you don't know me well enough to have  a problem with me.

They also need a reaction for really bad puns. I've almost gotten tired of seeing the "Get Out" GIF.

Almost.

Facebook already has a downvote button.

It's called "REPLY".

If you don't agree with me, don't hide behind a stupid button.  Have the balls to say something.

Fb had a dislike feature awhile back didn't they?  Anytime you allow someone to be shiatty anonymously, guess what happens...

I've sometimes wish that Fark would outright ban the most-ignored usernames. (I'm equally sure this could be abused/gamed. And if old-but-inactive-for-a-decade accounts actually are getting sold on, that's another problematic case.)

I have about 1400 usernames on ignore. My time is the most valuable thing I own; if I find someone is wasting it, I can make them go away. (I worry, a little, that I might accidentally duplicate existing content in a thread ... but I assume that people will either complain to me about it, or they'll put *me* on ignore, and the universe will be back in balance.)

The FAQ for FARK explicitly states that old accounts are not deleted, purged, or sold for any reason.

No no you guys don't get it. A downvote button will TOTALLY make the news on FB more real and authentic. Its not like the Russians or alt-right groups  will use bots to downvote anything that criticizes them or anything.

There's an easier way to delete your accout without having to deal with all that bureaucratic red tape and deactivate period.

Simply open up Tom's page or whatever that ginger guy's name is and slather disturbing porn images all over.  If one really wishes to go out w a bang to all your contacts, Gis "4chan nsfw" safesearch:off and start there.  Better option anyway, imho

seeing as how so many ignorantly upvote or like shiat, why would this change for downvoting?

The mods are aware of who is most ignored and consider that status when making ban decisions.

I'd like for there to be a Forrest Whitaker Eye button.
