The same idiot that got paid for writing that the Lions should trade Stafford for Brady.

Football in Michigan in general has been down for a minute, we have to allow them the time to get the negative out.

I don't know that this is a "Detroit" thing as much as it's a "sportswriter desperate for off-season material" thing.

I though Mark Bradley (Atlanta) was the most negative local sportswriter I've ever seen, but this guy puts him to shame.

If given the chance, you don't think the Lions would make that trade in a heartbeat?

There is a reason the Lions have only won a single playoff game in 60+ years....some of the nonsense I've read in the past week in this town, like they want a comotose Jim Caldwell out there.

Don't fire him, just have that sailor guy with the big forearms eat a can of spinach then punch him out then take the girl.

The Josh McDaniels method.

They might not be 9-7 this year.  He's never been a head coach.  Some might argue he's never been a defensive coordinator.  I like Quinn for this team but I don't feel good about Patricia.  He needs to get them to run the ball and stop the run, 2 things they were really bad at despite their 9-7 record.

Honestly, no, I don't think they'd make that move. Trade a guy in his prime for a guy that'll play maybe 2 more years, give him an offensive line that's less than mediocre, and no running game. I'd rather they build on Stafford and go from there. Its the smarter business and football decision. QB is the least of Detroits problems

Not a chance unless the Lions get Belichick as well.

Somebody in Detroit had to pick up the torch that got dropped when Drew Sharp keeled over. I've never seen a sportswriter that hated the teams he was being paid to cover more than him.

I think it's telling that Kraft bribed McDaniels to stay, but didn't do the same for Patricia.

No!

If it was 3-5 years ago, maybe. Brady is good, but he wouldn't be any different on the Lions than Stafford.  There are other issues on the team.

Like the middle to right side of their offensive line and the middle to right side of their defensive line?
Caldwell might have been a miracle worker.  Or negligent.  We'll find out next year.

Surprised this isn't a Fark headline yet. Given all the headlines we had last week, why isn't this one out there too?

If Brady had been playing the past 2 seasons, I think he would be dead by now considering the punishment Stafford has taken.

If they are tanking, might as well tank the hardest. No point in winning games and falling in the draft order.

This perfectly sums up the NBA 's biggest weakness.

Quick.  Name one person who became head coach of another NFL team after they had been head coach of the Detroit Lions.

Exactly.

The Detroit Lions is where head coaches go to die.

Who could forget Earl Harry "Dutch" Clark, who played and coached in Detroit and later went on to coach the vaunted Cleveland Rams?

The lions have been the same - but Tom somehow made it a little more tolerable.

Both Sean Payron and especially Drew Brees were bemoaned by Saints fans. The former because he was unproven, the latter due to a popular belief that he shouldn't be playing at all following that rotator cuff biatchow'd that work out for you, Miami?). Anyway, my point is that there was a huge amount of dismay and skepticism  but we'll, you know the rest. Hasn't always been pretty but the team has at the very least been competitive for over a decade.

Give the guy a chance. He was hired for a reason, and probably some other reasons fans just don't know about yet.
