dewihafta: No, it's not "National Farking Pizza Day." Some guy who runs a website declared it was, and everyone else just decided to run with it. That's all.

Stop making every farking day a special "whatever" day. There's just no reason for it but to give news organizations and mommy blogs something else to clutter up the airwaves with. It serves no other purpose.

I have some bad news for you.  You're too late.  National Debbie Downer day was yesterday.  But you may just catch National 'I bet you're fun at parties' day tomorrow!

So then National Steak and a BJ Day is not something you appreciate? My wife is actually down with  it once I explained it, she had never heard of it.

Showed her a link to it on the internet and she just said OK it's true

Hey Nurse!: OK - let's get this out of the way:
St Louis pizza is like getting cheesewhiz on a cracker
Chicago pizza is like a landfill - too much garbage and it stinks
New York pizza is god's gift to man
If you disagree with anything I've said, you are wrong.

I disagree, there is no god.

That's the video that fixed my 'trying to find the best dough recipe' issue for me

I make pizza just about every Friday since college, which was...a long time ago.  Usually get store bought or if I have the time I have a bread maker that does good kneading.  I'm trying this dough recipe for the first time today (well, started yesterday).

I can't watch the video:  could you (or someone) please post the the recipe when you have time?

Thanks :-)

500g bread flour
350g water
16g kosher salt
1g active dry yeast

Mix in a bowl until it comes together, cover with plastic wrap and leave at room temperature for 18-24 hours.  Remove and cut into 2-4 pieces depending on size pie.

The rest is making the sauce.  I already have a good one so I'm not making that.  But add sauce, cheese, other toppings, toss in 500F oven with pizza stone for ~8min or until Golden Brown and Delicious.

I'm so very scared.  Thoughts and prayers, please.

Flavor-wise it doesn't really change/add much, but unless you bake the hell out of it it tends to not really be crisp or firm. It's like really really flat, thin lasagna.

/Honestly, just fark the diet for a day and enjoy a real pizza. Carb-wise you're barely going to be able to do more than a slice or two of the Cauli-pizza anyway

It should be mentioned that your pizza stone (or steel) should be allowed to come to temp before putting the pizza on it. So after your oven hits 500, wait a minimum of 30 minutes. The video guy says an hour but that might be overkill?

America's Test Kitchen also says an hour.  That's what I do.  I can tell the difference between a 30 min and 60 min preheat when a pie comes out.

Really, nothing beats a cheese pizza?  Try every other kind of pizza.  Why on earth would you want plain boring cheese pizza when you could have any toppings?  How incredibly blah.  Mmmm, cheese pizza.  Mmmm, spaghetti with red sauce.  Chicken fingers with fries.  Bologna on wonder bread.  Vanilla ice cream.  You must live a very bland existence.

Hands down, the best pizza in existence is Fazzari's Pizza, in Clarkston, WA:

https://fazzaris.com/

They have one called the Shotsy...it is TO DIE FOR:

https://fazzaris.com/shotsy/

Also (because of the Shotsy), Fazzari's has been named #10 on Buzzfeed's "18 Pizza Joints You Must Try Before You Die":

Jesus Christ, that's gotta be the rock-bottom of dieting, right there.
A crust-less "pizza" in a bowl sounds more dignified.

i'm thinking we should probably stay off of your lawn.

My lawn's currently in hibernation for the winter, so I don't really care.

I know I'm not the only one tired of this, though. Sure, the world needs distractions and entertainment and all, but it just feels relentless these days.

you gotta admit, talk like a pirate day is a hoot.

This recipe?

http://foodwishes.blogspot.com/2014/02/cauliflower-pizza-crust-dont-let-name.html

I've made it twice.  First time according to video and it came out decent.  The crust just doesn't have real dough texture, but it does have flavor and holds together.  The second time I made four small rounds instead of one and served them quartered as "cauliflower" appetizers.

"This is cauliflower?  Why can't people just do this with cauliflower all the time?  Jeez!"
