They should have an Olympics where drug and steroid use are encouraged. I don't want to see dainty, careful little ice skaters. I want to see skaters doing quintuple axles and back spins at 50 mph.

Like there haven't been tons if American athlete's that used 'roids.

In fact, I'd bet at LEAST half of Olympic athlete's have used PEDs at done point, and quit cycling in enough time to beat the drug screens.

Steroid use is rampant in nearly every sport now.  It would be more rare to find someone who never used them in my opinion.

I've been saying this for years.

There really needs to be a "no drug testing, ever" world athletic governing organization.  Let the athletes pick whether they want to compete in the current framework with invasive testing or the one that says "your body, your choice" when it comes to drugs.

Then that's not competition.

That's "who takes the most steroids"

I don't know how they can get back into the IOC's good books. If the IOC requests a full inspection of their program before re-admittance, they'll just lie and fudge facts and hide evidence. You can never trust the Russians to do anything on good faith, or to play by the rules.. Cheating is endemic to their culture.

Probably why Trump loves them so much.

Painkillers -- because when you're attempting totally ridiculous shiat at high speed on a near frictionless surface, you tend to fall and injure yourself a lot. And that describes EVERY winter Olympic sport except for curling.

OK, what the story doesn't tell you: There are still 168 Russian athletes competing, but instead of being called "Russian Athletes" they are being called Olympic Athletes from Russia, so that's totally different. Yeah right. Plus they are wearing their regular red and white colors, but the IOC says it's a different shade of red so that's OK. Saw a article about this yesterday saying what a joke it is they are allowed to compete after all the cheating done. They actually had a building at the Sochi Olympics specifically built next to the testing building that had a hole in it to exchange dirty pee sample for clean ones.

my understanding of steroid use is it is also very good at muscle recovery as well as boosting strength.

pitchers in baseball would rather have control than power, but still use them to heal faster.

Not surprised at all.  The Soviets rebranded but still play the same tune.

Hyjamon: my understanding of steroid use is it is also very good at muscle recovery as well as boosting strength.

It speeds up muscle recovery, so you can work out 2 or 3 times a day instead of once every other day, effectively accomplishing in 6 weeks what would normally take 6 months.

Just doing steroids won't make you buff. They aid in repairing your muscle tissue after a workout so you can work out more frequently, speedrunning the process. But you have to put in the dedicated time.

The truth about this IOC scam of banning Russia but not really banning Russia:

http://abcnews.go.com/Sports/wireStory/column-russian-ruling-respite-war-doping-52956207

The IOC cares more about money than cheating or fairness, and Russia provides them a lot of money.

Someone clearly didn't watch the China/Switzerland or US/Olympic Athletes of Russia matches, both of which featured falls that involved someone getting hit with a curling stone.
