Weird that they would send out a guy we've never seen before for this.

It is much bigger news that the White House has admitted to making a mistake.

Even a broken clock....

Wait. That's not it.

A rolling stone catches....

Fark. That's not it either.

A turd in the hand is worth ten in the White House.

Well, that's the best I can do, so it'll have to suffice.

Fake apologies don't count.

2018-02-09 03:34:43 AM
It was an accident, that's all.

Tomorrow they'll be back to blaming "that damn 0bummer" for not using his time machine to stomp on Porter's great great grandfather's junk to prevent all this.

Makes sense. Huckabeest is a deflector shield. In this case that would mean defending the guy. Since Ms.Hicks is an important part of this administration, they had to take her side.

/Bob and the jilted girl sitting down for a chat...oh my *fans self*

The only thing they regret is not covering their tracks, not paying victims to be silent, and not being able to destroy evidence.

I'm sure some staffer came up with the bright strategy that admitting they were wrong for not properly vetting a wife-beater will make them look totally honest and upfront when they continue to deny their Russia connections.

The guy says "we coulda done better over the last few days" and they've admitted it's been a known issue since last summer when it was holding up his security clearance...

I'm a bit surprised nobody has blamed Rinsed Pubes yet, since he was Chief of Staff when the dude was hired. OTOH, it's entirely possible that no one in the White House is smart enough to think of that.

We're a good five or six hours away from the inevitable leak/article/tweet showing the president is more angry over this admission than the actual story.

Im sure some small innocent country no one has ever heard of is getting the bejesus bombed out of it right now as trump's rage reducer.

Maddow brought up a really good point last night. It appears that Shiathole's response is, "I had no idea, NO IDEA." If that is really the case, then who cleared this guy to handle all of the classified intel that crosses Shiathole's desk? He's the only one who has the power to say, I don't care if he doesn't have a security clearance, I wave my magic presidential wand and say he can see everything anyway. (That's what he did with Kushner.) But he's saying, "I had no idea he didn't have clearance."

So who the hell cleared him? More specifically, what the hell is going on in the White House? Is the gasbag lying when he says he had no idea?

This story is indicative that the White House may be "leaking" classified information in about the same way that an oil tanker leaks oil at the moment that the tanker ceases to exist, and it's just a couple hundred thousand barrels of oil with nothing to contain it.

Raj Shah is such a fitting name for a Trump spokesman. It literally translates to King King. But because he didn't say "Obama appointee Little Rob Porter (D) was a low level staffer who was never involved with the Trump administration and we only ever talked to about adoption", I'm afraid the King is dead

2018-02-09 04:40:27 AM
The presser was a shiatshow, I mean, more than usual. It wasn't a straight statement of guilt either, more of a deflection (the usual), basically saying that the background check was delayed and/or not very thorough so they didn't really know that Porter was an asshole. Then they did an about-face and claimed they knew of the claims... but Porter was such a great dude that they just didn't act on them. Or something.

Even if you take it at face value that they simply had no clue that he "allegedly" beat his exes because of some gross failure somewhere, they knew he didn't have the highest clearance because of something. But they kept him on anyway because "the best people". Security checks mean nothing to this administration is what it boils down to, because if Trump wants you around, you'll be there, regardless of your unsavory past. Or lying on your security clearance forms.

Along with the voice dripping in scorn, "...if your mind is in the gutter." Sure Sarah, it's the reporters who live in the gutter.

I bet Trump isn't running anything anymore.  I bet he's not even consulted.  He just sits in some room watching cable.

That would explain why anyone would admit wrong to anything.

2018-02-09 07:14:49 AM
I watched that press conference and as soon as Raj Shah said that things could have been done better I knew he was done for.

On the one side, I was thinking, "hmmm, he is not a condescending biatch like Huckabooboo" and on the other side, I pretty much came to the conclusion that he spouts the same basic BS.

No shocker there.

Jake Havechek: It's pretty clear that John Kelly is a pissbrain with zero integrity.

Look, I'm not saying John Kelly is neither of those things. I just think that being CoS for Trump means you have to cover up and deal with so much bullshiat that it's like fighting a wild fire with a garden hose. Rob Porter beating his wife is likely the least nefarious scandal/pile of shiat he's had to deal with, and so small in comparison...I buy it when he says he didn't know.

Hell, if you're dealing with government shutdowns, Mueller closing in, new and unsurprising leaks and scandals coming every damn day, keeping Trump from eating himself into a coma on Big Macs or finding the guy with the nuclear football...Some dude being an asshole to his wife isn't even in the top 10 of shiat you have time to think about.

2018-02-09 08:01:26 AM
so let's say trump is completely innocent of colluding with russia. ( i know)
how many russian operatives do you think are mining mountains of classified info due to the complete ineptness of the administration.

2018-02-09 08:14:24 AM
Mr. Porter was seen as a crucial ally in bringing order and discipline to a White House full of political and policy novices, and as an even-tempered check on the volatile tendencies of the president and some of his other aides. The office of the staff secretary puts together the president's briefing book every day, as well as memorandums for scheduled meetings.

THAT'S our stabilizing influence?

Obama will spend the rest of his life vacationing in 2009, while taking the occasional jaunt in the time machine to mess up our past and our future.

Thanks, Obama!

Not quite. This is not the White House, as an entity, admitting a mistake. This is one part of the White House that hates another part of the White House admitting that the hated part made a mistake. It's really just and intra-gang war with lots of finger-pointing.
