Elite Dangerous. Still. I really need to take a break from it. Just as soon as I get the last of the Engineers unlocked. And the materials for the G5 mods that I need.

Rory McEllroy was $5 last weekend on XBone. I'd heard and read bad things about it, but I'm loving it. And, hell, $5!

Darkest Dungeon on Switch. Lost my main party. Dammit. Gotta build another one!

Skyrim on Switch. I was gonna build a sneaky tank cuz lulz, but I started messing with the motion controls and HERE COMES ANOTHER STEALTH ARCHER, BABY-AH!

A little Civ VI Rise and Fall. Just messing around with the new civs and trying to figure out the new factors so far.

Decided to make a push to finish Shadow of Mordor. I discovered that if I need ghost arrows, I can just use the drain ability on a passing Uruk and get more (which beats running around trying to collect them).

Also, if you use the drain ability twice on some Uruks, their heads explode (which is hilarious).

Outside of that, kind of dicking around with Life is Strange. Once I get these out of the way I'll get back into Phantom Pain and New Vegas.

I'm barely aware that there's a story.

More often than not I head off toward some objective and then get sidetracked for 45 minutes hunting down Uruk captains.

Oh, and ... well, it's not playing, per se ... but I watched a strimmer I like on Twitch play the remaster of Shadow of the Colossus. I've never played it, because I was an Xboner. It looked great.

My friend is gonna strim it this weekend, so I'm hoping he gets a different ending.

Friends and I are revisiting Dark Heresy with the new rule book and they took away all my bad ass psyker powers for generic force bolts that all do the same damage across several disciplines. They also changed the prereqs so that I no longer qualify for the mediocre powers I had in the old rule book.

Been playing PUBG.

I really can't explain it, but I like it. I don't play in any groups and I guess I like the fact that I can either get in top 2, or die in the first 30 seconds. You've basically got a 1% chance when it starts, but goes up as your or others start killing. Haven't got a Chicken Dinner yet, but have only played a couple weeks so far. The fact that I don't have to rely on others or them having to rely on me takes some stress off, but it still gets exciting when you engage someone.

Been playing a lotta Civ 5

The best civs in the game are Shoshone, Greeks, Celts, and Polynesia.

Shoshone got the ability to choose the goodies from the ancient ruins, using the Greeks city-states influence decreases 50% slower and enacting Patronage as a civic in fact stops some city-states from losing influence. Celts have +2 faith for being around a forest, which is incredibly handy early in the game (do not underestimate how important religion is in the game, especially when you can get +2 gold per city or +1 gold for every 4 followers globally). Finally, Polynesia is the strongest one if ya wanna play a cultural domination. The moai are incredibly awesome at producing culture. Plus, being able to traverse ocean squares at the beginning of the game is useful to get ancient ruins on islands that will take millennia for other civs to find.

One player versus a hundred?  Game-changer.

Multiplayer in a massive open-world format?  Game-changer.

Sufficient complexity that players can talk about "that one round" like they're telling a crazy story in a bar?  Game-changer.

Less emphasis on videogame skill and more emphasis on intuitive, natural decision-making?  Game-changer.

None of that even gets into the ridiculous potential for the future of the format, you could have zombies crowd the entire playing field, or maybe even anime schoolgirls, who kick me with their bare feet, for being one of a hundred pathetic worms.

As long as it's me first, ladies.

HedlessChickn: Giving Fallout 4 Survival mode a fair shake for once.

I'm disappointed with Fallout 4, but Survival mode is better in most ways EXCEPT the 'need to sleep to save' thing. I don't find the idea bad, but for me it just devolved into a bunch of stupid 1 hour naps that were likely health detrimental.

YMMV, but naturally there are mods which adjust this.

Unfortunately, I wasn't talking entirely about the story. But it's still an enjoyable game, for what it is.

I used a mod that sets timed autosaves after becoming extremely frustrated with game crashes wiping out significant progress. I decided that fifteen minute intervals was a fair trade off between challenge and avoiding frustration.

Considering that my Fallout 4 Survival run character is now over level 120 and has so many health-restoring perks (solar powered and ghoulish amongst the more overpowered ones) that she heals faster than Wolverine, game crashes are about the only reason I have to reload a previous save now.

Wasteland 2 cheat character.  I'm in California and she has an AK-97 and power armor.  Death to all.  Did a little World of Warships also, ground up my Hiryu to the proper tier fighters and got my commander back up to 5 planes in a flight, so now my presence on a team isn't an automatic loss for them, which is nice.  That grind was so frustrating though I had to take a few days off, and called off at work on a snow day and went sledding with the kids on Wednesday.

Got that last night and played it for about an hour.  The fact that you are penalized for loyalty if you build too close to another player is a nice touch (and hopefully dissuades the damn AI players from putting a damn city right between two of mine).  The Age mechanic is interesting but I haven't fully delved into yet unfortunately.

I've been playing Slay the Spire.  Roguelike decking building turnbased rpg sounds like word salad, but it really works surprisingly well, especially as you figure out how to build decks despite the card drops being random.  Had The Silent doing upwards of 85 poison damage on a boss at one time, which was a blast.  Strongly recommend checking out, especially since it's only $16.

I've been working on a giant robot PVP boardgame I'm tentatively calling Titanomachia. The game is up and running smoothly, and I'm busy collecting quotes and art assets and whatnot for the Kickstarter.

Here's my development blog: Titanomachina.blogspot.ca

There's going to be 12 weapons for the robots, initially, and I've gotten six types of building sculpted up so far. There's going to be cards, dice, and hit location charts. Here's a picture of the initial, low-rez prints.

Football Manager. Trying to get a Vanarama North team (6th tier in the British football hierarchy) advanced as high as I can. Running into payroll issues though. Sucks to buy a player for a couple grand, give them a $500 a week (plus appearance fee...) contract, and have them get a concussion in their first game with the club.

Sounds not dissimilar to Mechcommand RTS, something I recently backed on Kickstarter and am currently awaiting the delivery of - projected to be some time in late March/early April.

I finished Human Fall Flat (Loved the ending).  Then I tried online play.  The handful of people online were friendly, fun and about 300% better at it than I was.

I pushed through more of Gunpoint, advancing the story (I'm getting into the story a bit more now, it wasn't something that struck me at first)

I used my sons computer to get past the part in Scrap Garden that kept crashing.  I'll try to sit down and finish that game (I really do like that puzzle game)

I opened Field Runners 2 (another tower defense game).  I picked it up in a humble bundle, this was just to play a few rounds so that it wouldn't be in the "Never played pile".

Also been playing a *LOT* of Super Bomberman with the kids.

I was just looking at that, actually. It's not dissimilar. Similar notions of giant robots, buildings, and whatnot. I'm going for more of an Adeptus Titanicus vibe, while Mech Command RTS looks like a modern Battletech. There's also Giga-Robo and GKR Heavy Hitters out there, soon to be deliver. It's actually kind of neat how much room there is in the concept for so many different ways of going about it.

Bought the Frozen Wilds DLC for Horizon, beat that and then beat the game, great game and the story is pretty satisfying for both the main game and DLC. Now playing the game on hard mode in new game +, being level 58 with the shielded armor you pick up late in the game almost feels like cheating despite the higher difficulty setting, lots of fun.

Also still making my way through Diamond City in Fallout 4 VR, you can spend an hour exploring that city and barely scratch the surface but especially so in VR since you tend to take your time. Still my favorite thing to do in VR is use the shotgun or autopistol and run to a piece of cover and then stick the gun around the cover to blast somebody, never not fun. Also everybody in the game is by default like 6'-2" in height, makes them all look weirdly slender in VR, also mutants are like 8' tall so having Strong as a companion is jarring.

Bit the bullet, building a new rig. Ryzen 1600X, GTX 1070, 16 gigs of ram. The CPU doesn't come with a heat sink, so right now I'm waiting on the manufacturer to send me the bracket for AM4 boards since the heat sink was made before AM4 was released. It probably won't be here until the middle or end of next week. I've been trying to order it since Tuesday, but Enermax has the laziest farking RMA department in the world. Don't buy shiat from Enermax, if it breaks you'll have a maddening experience replacing it.

Anyways, it's a mini ITX build in this lovely little case:

Yeah, messing around loyalty too. You can assign one of your governors to a city state, which will give you a 9 hex loyalty bubble around it. I'm going to try to surround Egypt in a loyalty burrito and see if I can take over that way.

I'm playing the Cree - it's pretty cool having your traders "capture" land for you (if you run a route between two of your own cities, it'll take over the closest 3 tiles for both cities).

Originally it was based on the Armored Core video games as it goes rather than Battletech but communication issues with From Software meant they ended up dropping the licence.

I can't wait for it to get here - fully customisable magnetised mechs so you can completely rebuild between missions etc depending on the resources available to you. Also the laser pointer bases with make LoS arguments unnecessary.

It's the most expensive KS that I've backed to date, with the various expansions I've added I'm into it for about $230 dollars.

Pick up the mod that gives you recordable holotapes to save.  It's the best solution I've found- there's a fairly limited supply you can find but you get to choose when to use them.  It adds some decision making to the whole thing- "I've only got two left, but I think I saw a deathclaw up ahead..."

Been trying my hand at PUBG for about 3 weeks now and am about done with the ridiculous gun physics.
A shotgun to the chest, at point blank, usually ends someone's life.
Bullets don't drop 3 feet at 100 yards.
Bullets don't drop at ALL at 20 yards.

Shiat just appears to be random as hell.
