While I have a degree of  sympathy for her obviously struggling with mental illness in years prior, I still think it's REALLY bad optics when you do something like this:

You're a manager for a client who then tells you a studio head behaved inappropriately with her. You complain to your superiors at the management company on your client's behalf. Ten months later, the studio makes an incredible offer, to be a VP of Production and you take it promptly despite knowing the studio head's disturbing history with at least your client.

I can understand McGowan's fury and belief that Messick ditched McGowan to work for THE man who sexually assaulted her.

I think the common thing we can probably all agree on.
It's not female, male, movie star etc.

It's that the Irish Catholics are often batshait crazy Assholes. Like more often than not. Heck they're proud of the 'fighting Irish" thing. When they're not blowing up shait and killing protestants ...they do send their sons and daughters to the USA...to avoid the violence of them blowing up shait and killing people.
So we get:
Rosie O'Donnell
Sean Hannity
Bill O'Reilly.
Ronald Mc Donald

The family didn't blame everyone. Word on the street is that Harvey is about to be arrested and charged, which means that she has almost certainly been interviewed by the police. They forgot to blame the police.

You know how I know you don't know much about sexual assault?

2018-02-09 08:50:07 AM
The ensuing arrangements between Rose and Harvey were then negotiated, completely without Jill's knowledge. At that time, all Jill knew was that the matter was settled and that Rose continued making films with the Weinsteins.

That's part of the story that's not so easy to square regarding McGowan.

If you can't see the difference between an justifiably enraged, raped woman and a woman who scheduled and facilitated multiple evening, hotel room rapes for her powerful boss you're a moron or being intentional obtuse.

Maybe she was a nice woman? Maybe McGowan wasn't as crazy before all of this? No idea. But to imply the suicide is another Weinstein victim is bullshiat.

You mean the woman that stuck her neck out and reported it, was told it was being addressed and then watched the victim go on to continue working for the attacker? What was she supposed to do or say after that?

Unsuccessful People don't understand how when you have talent and drive there are already compromises and parts of your soul you have to shave off to get what you want that it's easy to get lost in the dark forest.
Especially when pretty much everyone in Hollywood was a racist rapist creep. At least you KNOW Weinstein was gonna take it to the hoop.

Retrospectively we understand it was wrong - maybe she was more confused than us.  The casting couch is a thing.  Some actresses are happily willing to engage in that situation and it's a "normal" thing for them.
Others consent reluctantly.
Some believe they don't have a choice.
Some truly don't have a choice.

I don't think it's up to us to decide what happened to anyone here.
