That is not a "bedtime habit". Putting on socks filled with poop before getting into bed every night, is.

Put a mattress protector on right after you bring the mattress into the house.
Change the sheets every Saturday.

How lazy are we as a society that these simple things are a struggle....

Benefits of OCD.   My wife changes them twice a week.

Growing up my mom always stripped the beds and washed stuff every weekend. She's not a clean freak, but washing sheets was always a priority. - I heard you're supposed to change out your towel every 3 days as well.

I shower before bed so I'm the cleanest thing in the house. So I don't have to change my sheets at all.

2018-02-08 05:41:30 PM
I have a very senior cat that suffers from occasional incontinence so the bed is stripped down to  the waterproof cover once or twice a week.

I was changing them at least once a week, but my wife complained about my fussiness.

2018-02-08 05:45:43 PM
A) It's my own filth
B) I shower when I wake up.

Though mine are washed every 2 weeks.

If you are doing it right, you'll realize at some point either you have to wash your sheets once or twice a day or stop having sex because of the amount of body fluids that get everywhere.

THIS! Nasty ass-people.

When I was in college I inherited a waterbed from the guy who was moving out of the place that I was moving into. I broke it down and cleaned it. Bought a new heater pad and water chemicals. Had to drive 40 miles to get waterbed sheets. Brought them home and they kept coming untucked. So I stapled them to the bed box. They stayed on for an entire year.

Sheets dion't need to be changed these days, sheet and mattress technology has progressed far enough now that they can go for the full life time of the product without changing.

They'd sew the sheets right onto the mattress if it wasn't for right to change laws and older customers who demand the ability to change them at home in their bedrooms on the weekend.

Sheets are supposed to be changed?

2018-02-08 05:47:36 PM
Thank goodness my wife is fastiduous in that regard. Every Saturday.

I'd probably do it once a month of left to my own devices.

For context, hygiene experts recommend washing or changing your sheets every week

A week? I thought I was being a bit anal by doing it every fortnight.

No matter since I'm the only one who has to use it...

Ah, every other day, maybe 3rd if I'm tired.  This make me OCD?

2018-02-08 05:49:12 PM
What are sheets?

2018-02-08 05:49:19 PM
Why is it necessary to change them every week?  I'm serious.

Mikey1969: Anyone want to point out to the morons who wrote TFA that nobody changes their sheets at bedtime?

What? You think about your sheets during the daytime? No. You get ready for bed, swap them out real quick and lay down.

I figure my farts kill pretty much any organism that happens to be occupying my bed linens.

I tell my fiancee to change them weekly unless she wants to sleep on the couch.

I change my sheets every Sunday morning like a civilized person. Costco has really great sheets under their Kirkland brand.

2018-02-08 05:52:00 PM
I knew a guy in college that didn't even put sheets on his bed.  He just slept right on the bare dorm mattress, complete with pee stains from prior users.

And that guy got more tail than the rest of us combined. Probably due to his limitless supply of weed.

2018-02-08 05:53:22 PM
Hey, I know what we can do with these sheets!

A 2005 University of Manchester study found up to 16 species of fungi in a single pillow.

That explains why sometimes I'm not sure if I'm dreaming or tripping balls.

And?

I'm over 40 years old and I wait weeks to wash sheets. Doesn't seem to have hurt me, yet.

Quantify how much healthier I'd be, on average, if I washed them once a week instead.

No, you know it's washday (because if comes around every week) so you change the sheets that morning.

Every two weeks, my cleaning lady changes them.

/Clarification: the ones on MY bed
//The duvet hasn't been washed in months
///Should get on that

2018-02-08 05:57:42 PM
As pointed out, not really a bedtime habit. More like less-than-optimal housekeeping.
