Sorry, hit Add Comment too soon.

Natural Gas has some radiation concerns as well already, like radon.

Um, PA went R for the first time in 28 years for this last election, it's actually very purple with the cities being deep blue and the rural areas being quite red. If you energize the cities then there's enough population for it to be blue in federal elections.

As I understand though, the GOP has controlled the state legislature for decades now, thanks to gerrymandering.

Oh come on, we all know the republicans are the only people who would support such a thing. The Dems are perfect angels who care for the little guy.

Yeah, same in Ohio, we're solidly purple but the state legislate is completely dominated by the GOP. It's probably the biggest flaw in American Democracy TBH.

Probably a bad time to bring up that story again, considering who's in charge of the country right now. I'm sure people were laughing about a military parade a month ago, and see what happened?

Was there an actual explosion at Three Mile Island? I thought it was a meltdown, and not even anything close to what ended up happening at Chernobyl.

I saw a lot of familiar towns in the map included in the article--Renovo, Lock Haven, Karthaus, Snow Shoe.

I'm not gonna say "nothing of value would be lost," that would be mean.  But maybe folks there need to think about what others thought of their value back then, and reflect on that.

I thought Trump was going to use unemployed coal miners.  Good paying jobs and bonuses for every ton of natural gas they bring up in those little metal carts.

I'm sure it was safe by 1966 or whenever the lake filled in, doesn't take much silt and water to block alpha, beta, and gamma rays (gamma takes the most at 13.8' of water for a 10^9 reduction).

It was going to be called the Pan-Atomic Canal, and it would have been large enough that a lock system wouldn't even be required.  But it's a good thing they didn't do it, all of the water in the Atlantic would have drained into the Pacific.
