For Canucks and those who who know their way around geocaching:

Let's get this rivalry going. *cracks open rockstar*

USA is wearing MAGA hats.

Now that's just disrespectful.

2018-02-08 06:09:31 AM
Good morning, all.  Go USA!

2018-02-08 06:15:51 AM
The Americans literally look like a couple of hicks plucked out of a trailer park in Minnesota, complete with fat gut, trucker hat and porn stache.

Close, they're from Wisconsin.

Canada gets a point in end 2, 1 all.

2018-02-08 06:31:33 AM
The button is getting very crowded in the 3rd end.

2018-02-08 06:37:13 AM
Not enough curl on the USA's last rock, Team USA only takes 1.  2-1 USA after 3 ends.

2018-02-08 06:48:53 AM
And this match's tradition of exchanging 1 point ends continues, 2 all after 4.

2018-02-08 06:55:04 AM
Lawes, the Canadian, is pretty hot.

2018-02-08 07:01:39 AM
USA has missed 2 runbacks in a row, good opportunity for Canada to steal.

2018-02-08 07:04:03 AM
Hey! I love ski jump.  It was my fantasy event when I was a kid.

2018-02-08 07:04:12 AM
Americans cracking under pressure.

Canada steals 3 in the 5th to break it wide open.

2018-02-08 07:04:41 AM
Bad, bad end for the US.  Canada steals 3, 5-2 Canada after 5 ends.

Earguy: Hey! I love ski jump.  It was my fantasy event when I was a kid.

And then you realized all of the catastrophic injuries you could suffer?

2018-02-08 07:16:10 AM
Canada limits the US to 1 (wonderfully executed double takeout with their last stone), 5-3 after 6 ends.

2018-02-08 07:16:53 AM
Did they seriously just set up the opening stones backwards?

Ishkur: Did they seriously just set up the opening stones backwards?

Yes, yes they did.

My first live curling experience.

It was fun....and interesting since I knew nothing about it

Runback double takeout.

USA with the steal, 5-4 Canada going into the last end.

2018-02-08 07:27:52 AM
Well whatever -- if she had made that shot the Yanks would've shaken their hand, so missing it means more curling which is good for everybody.

Fun fact, the regulations state the rocks can weigh between 38 and 44lbs.  The average weight of a curling stone is 42lbs.

Near perfect on that, Canada wins 6-4.  Well done, Canucks.

Comfortable win. Looks like they're still trying to figure out the ice. Mixed double curling is weird. It's kinda like Sevens Rugby -- only superficially similar to the real game

Seeing that many stones in the house at one time end after end still feels weird.

How many Finnish ski jumpers are there? Is it a national sport over there?

Maybe I'm developing ADD in my advancing years, but after watching the Mixed Trials in January, it was torture for me to sit through some of those 3+ hours 10 end Scotties games last week.

you'd figure it'd be cute watching them try to play, but i can see why it may take a long time

Well yes and no.  It's kind of like the difference between timed and limited-over cricket, I guess.  The pros and serious amateurs play timed cricket, but most casual players play limited-over.  At some point the cricket authorities thought it might lucrative and popular for the pros to play limited-over because casual fans would understand and enjoy it more.  Now both forms are successful (yes, timed/Test cricket has declined, but I'd argue it would have declined more without limited-over cricket supporting it).

Love watching mixed curling. More draws fast paced, and you can tell the lady on your team she was heavy and not get killed

It's an extra end in the China-Korea match at 7-7.  A good match with a good comeback by Korea, some good and bad throws.  Ah, I haven't watched or curled in too long.  Maybe there's somewhere here in Rochester to do it (although now everyone will want to be doing it).

Awww, now I'm feeling nostalgic.  Only one band to listen to when I get that way, and coincidentally they made a song about curling!

Rochester has a curling club. I've been once, pretty nice venue and great people!

I joined the LICC right after Sochi. It was crowded, but not overwhleming. Been playing every summer since. Highly recommend you join!

I tried curling once.

I slipped and fell and made an ass out myself every single throw.  As did everybody else who was trying it for the first time.  Not as easy as it looks on TV.

If it makes you feel better, the male half of the US team slipped and fell during their opening match. So even the pros suffer bruised backsides.

I like it. People make jokes, but it's got this Zen vibe to it. I could totally go watch curling if someone was putting on a match. I think there'd need to be beer there, though. It's not a rowdy 'let's get drunk and cause trouble' type of sport, but a totally 'let's kick back, have some brews, and just chill' type.
