The surviving agent hopefully will recall what happened.   Another article I read stated that the Sheriff thought they had been hit by a truck or something.

Dewey Fidalgo: The surviving agent hopefully will recall what happened.   Another article I read stated that the Sheriff thought they had been hit by a truck or something.

I hope he recalls, if for no other reason than that would mean regaining memories lost in his life.

From what I've read it sounds like the 2 of them fell into a culvert. There have been no pictures of the culvert that I've seen. Culverts can begin in a 2-foot-deep hole or a 20-foot-deep hole. I hadn't really considered the nefarious possibilities of an inside job.

Rogelio Martinez, a Border Patrol agent who died while monitoring a remote part of West Texas.

Did anyone consider the possibility that a bunch of hicks saw his skin color and didn't think he was a legitimate border patrol officer / citizen?  Or maybe he was involved in a drug ring; he had unprescribed barbituates in his system.  Or maybe they just can't drive and hit something.

All of them seems a lot more likely than, "poor family that'd just immediately start walking across again on-deportation murders border patrol officer because reasons."

Trump lied? Must be ___day.

2018-02-08 03:03:37 AM
Damn.

Of course Trump is an imbecile for jumping to conclusions and calling it an attack by immigrants. For the sake of the Dreamers I hope it wasn't. For the sake of the survivor and the victim's family, I hope we find the truth, no matter what it is.

The article doesn't say there was no attack, just that the FBI found no evidence of an attack. There's plenty of ways an attack might not leave hard evidence, and FBI might not want to disclose the actual evidence and tip their hand to suspects.

But sure subby, make this about trump.

Donald Trump lies (in some way) every time he speaks.
His lawyers don't want him to testify, under oath, because they are afraid he will lie.
I think  at this point that when he says "My_____was the greatest/most watched/most  loved in the history
of all time" We all know this is hyperbole.
But when CNN calls him out on it. He just says "fake news".
I really hope we survive this.

The article says there was no evidence of an attack.

Trump said it was an attack.

It may turn out that he was right, but until then we don't know, which makes Trump's comment a fabrication, an invention, fiction.

Ergo, Trump lied.

I'd say making it about Trump is fair.

/really should have left it at "The article doesn't say there was no attack, just that the FBI found no evidence of an attack."

This.  Been through that part of Texas and this is indeed the norm.  It's like when I worked for this one trucking company.  Their home terminal was Birmingham, Alabama. (Ensley to be precise)  I parked at the terminal and wanted to get something to eat, so I walked about a mile to one of the restaurants.  It was night and while I didn't have anything happen,  the cashier took one look at me and said,  "you do know you are a marshmallow in a bowl of cocoa puffs down here don't you?"

Sounds like two Boarder Patrols agents were doing something they weren't supposed to be doing that got one of them killed and the survivor, thanks to a convenient head injury, has no recalculation of what happened.

Trumpy needs to leave when he ones his flaps and takes credit for something he ones it. If he going to take credit for the economy doing great, he owns it when it crashes.

If he's going to mandate a wall be built to protect us from non existent bogeymen, he needs to own up to it too.

The guys weren't attacked but why do people keep peddling the drug theory? The fiancée and friends said he had a sore neck and shoulder. Prolly asked a buddy for a muscle relaxant , which would account for the low level of barbiturates. The way his fiancée harped about not having anything in the house and him never taking anything, I bet she hates medication and he was sick of her nagging him about aspirin. Complete speculation but I've known people like that

I mean, balance of probability, I guess? A guy "who never takes anything" probably has no way of knowing what dosage is too much, and you don't need a lot of barbiturates to be reasonably impaired.

But, maybe it was something else entirely, maybe a bee flew in their car. No telling at this point.

The other guy didn't have barbiturates in his system. Muscle relaxants make usually make you drowsy, not really impaired.

It was no accident. I have strong evidence that we face an even greater threat than most of you could possibly imagine: invisible illegal immigrants (IIIs, or eye-eye-eyes). They can attack anyone at any time (including armed Border Patrol agents in the dark of the night) and leave no trace of their presence (no DNA, no footprints, nothing). "How can you know they exist if they're invisible?", you might ask. Well, you can't see angels or God either, but you can see their influence in peoples lives, so suck on that. But, since IIIs obviously aren't divine, we should be able to spend a whole sh*tload of money to figure out a way to track and identify them, even if it takes decades and costs billions of dollars.

2018-02-08 11:53:09 AM
FTFA: According to Border Patrol records, 19 agents have died while on duty since 2010. One was killed in an assault by a suspected smuggler. At least 10 died in on-the-job accidents.

Over half of the deaths are from accidents. I know that these agents are patrolling some rough territory, but what the hell are they all doing to die from on-the-job injuries? It sounds like they should up the spending to teach these guys some basic safety techniques. Maybe get them some padding or something. Yeesh.

I think we can be pretty sure at this point.
