It's okay, during the big military parade, they can hold a bake sale to help pay for some of the tanks and fighter jets. And here's an idea, especially for all those who already have  their MAGA hats. We can sell special commemorative flair  bling   medals  for Trump's new Commander-in-Chief  Uniform. I can see the late night TV adds now, sandwiched in between adds selling gold and reverse mortgages. Patriot Americans can personally buy various replicas of special Presidential medals, actual real authentic genuine reproductions of medals warn by the 45th President. Proceeds go in part to help make America Great Again. Smithsonian-Franklin mint etc. etc. etc.. Own your part of history. Easy credit card payments. Limited time offer for these treasured collectors items.

No. fark you, Doug.

But it has certainly put the Republican Party's reputation for fiscal discipline on the rocks, coming on the heels of a tax law projected to increase the deficit by $1.5 trillion.

If by discipline, you mean punishing everyone.

I think you go the opposite way: solicit millionaires who can personalize a medal that Trump will wear during his ego trip parade. Auction off the limited number of spaces, and insinuate anyone who doesn't submit a serious bid must hate Trump and America and be in league with those filthy, dirty, traitorous Democrats.

It's not punishment of all. In fact, the Republicans are happy for you to have all the freedom you want if it's to be just as white as like them.

2018-02-07 05:45:47 PM
Nobody actually cares about the deficit. The Republicans have operated in bad-faith on this issue (and most others) for decades, and the mainstream media has treated them as honest brokers that whole time.

Sounds like they need another tax cut.

I guess at least this isn't like last time. George W. Bush admitted he was duped that the repatriation would be used for jobs and growth, not bonuses and buybacks. This time they didn't even bother lying about it.

"But it has certainly put the Republican Party's reputation for fiscal discipline on the rocks..."

Do they actually still have a reputation for that? From what I've seen all they do is piss and moan about every red cent to get spent on anything but the military as long as a Democrat is office, then spend money like a coke head with a no limit credit card as soon as they get into power.

DemocRAps Love illegals and rapist moar than troops! No Budjit without WALL! Why you hate America? You wont give Trump credit for ecconomy. Obama hate troops and now we must make up for all the treason he did by hating our military and being secret Muslem. Trumps brilliant plan will make America strong and keep us safe from China and North Korea. We won get over it! Trump loves troops and is great leader. He wants parade to honor troops and pay homage to vetrans. He got idea from France. Not North Korea or Germany. America does not have revenue problem, America has spending problem. Moar money for Armies and troops. Hillary sell uranium to Russia, she trade  bribes FOR YELLOW CAKES.
FBI and DOJ try to put in fix against Trump. Deep State! Stocks fall because of librul media bad news and weak dollar under Obama. Hillary is moar of same. She cheat Bernie Sanders with Debbie Wasserstein. No collusion, you're the collusion. American business need tax cuts to make America grow. I LOVE my tax cut. Democrats out of touch! Nancy Pelosi say we only get crumbs! We love crumbs!

Lest anyone think I have lost my mind. These are the daily talking points and opinions of the voters who elect freedom caucus representatives and ultra-conservative candidates. Phony Facebook 'News',  shared social media propaganda groups with patriotic-sounding names, talk radio, Newsmax, Drudge Report, RT, One America Network, Brietbart, and especially Fox News spread this EXACT horse sh*t 24/7. They could give less of a flying fark about actual deficits, spending, government waste, or actually making this country better.

How in the Hell do you EVER think you are going to get these people to be concerned out the environment (hoax and hurts free market), sensible gun laws (Obama and libs is takin' mah gun! Second Amendment! Can't do anythinganyway so why bother!), Dreamers (illegals who snuck in and broke the law), infrastructure (taxes bad, private sector better, toll roads don't bother me because I don't never leave home!)  They live in pants-pooping fear, yet "your the real racist" or a snowflake because you are a homo-lovin' pussy who hates Jesus and the flag and disrespects our troops.

I only voice an opinion. It is not anecdotal when I see and hear what I'm plainly telling you daily.
But if you don't listen to anything I say, you damn sure better make sure you control the pursestrings, payrolls, and make gawdamned sure you are not creating a military that views one political party as "the enemy" and the other party as a savior.  You've heard the rhetoric. I love seeing the voter turnout, the demonstrations, and the obvious fact that MOST people in this country are sick of Trump's sh*t.

Screw the "Freedom Super Patriot Republican-Jesus" caucus squarely in their rich, bought-and-paid-for tight asses! Deficits don't mean jack*sht to them. You know that, I know that, so let's stop pretending they do!

I guess they'll just have to cut Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security to the bone to prove they really do care about deficits. Sure, these and the other other cuts programs that affect the lives of middle class Americans will more than eat up the paltry savings allotted them in the tax bill, but that's just what it's going to cost to give the rich huge tax cuts while letting the Republicans maintain their deficit hawk cred.

Oh no, that's exactly it. This has been Republicanism 101 for a long time now.

Yes, there are a few true believers, but by and large most of them know full well that they're setting up a future budget crisis. That's their insurance policy that the poors get totally farked at some point. So this way if they don't manage to slash entitlements before shiat gets out of control this year, or before the midterms kill at least one of their legislative majorities, they have the future budget crisis there to force the debate.

They'll pretend like the social safety net programs themselves were the issue, and they will deny cutting revenues like they did has anything to do with it.

Yeah the principled tea party will be protesting you guys any minute now.  Any minute.

The reason to cut government programs is to reduce taxes. The reason to reduce taxes is "more money for me, fark the rest of y'all". They put the cart before the horse this time and did the part where they grab the money first.

I'm all for increasing efficiency, combining overlapping programs, eliminating fraud in order to cut spending, but just gutting beneficial and necessary programs because rich Republicans want to be richer strikes me as lazy and unethical. To understate it.

What annoys me is that the GOP is kicking the deficit mess down the road, so that the next administration -- presumably a Democrat one -- has to face it head-on, and take the hit for tightening peoples' belts and raising taxes.  It's almost like scorched-earth 2.0

The deficit was already projected to increase to $1t next year due to the tax cuts.  This will add about $300b of spending on top of that.

So next year if the economy stays strong we'll have about as high of deficit as we had at the height of stimulus spending during the global financial crisis.  And if the economy goes sour, then what?

We need the debt to grow slower than the GDP in good years, so that we can stimulus spend in bad years.  And that means we need a big tax INCREASE.

As is, get ready for high inflation.  Which will drive up treasury yields.  Which will make servicing US debt more expensive.  Which will drive the deficit higher :/

You are correct that the GOP doesn't care and is pushing this off on future legislators. However you should not fall into the deficit hysteria Dems always do. The deficit and debt are not a crisis. They are not even a problem. They do not limit us from spending as much money as we want on whatever we want. The US cannot go bankrupt - it is literally impossible. When the Dems' turn to run the show comes around again, which it will, we should spend $1.5T (and more!) on the right things - infrastructure, CO2 mitigation, education, healthcare, childcare, poverty, and all the rest -- not on tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations.
