Some models of Porsches certainly do qualify as "supercars," but a Boxster (or as they called it in TFA, a "Boxter," which doesn't actually exist) sure as hell doesn't. Hell, most Porsche owners would say that it barely even qualifies a orsche.

That was kind of my thought.  Same goes for any classification of Toyota.  So at most, there were 2 super cars harmed in the making of this film.

The Toyota shown in TFA was not part of the race-- it was being by an uninvolved, unlucky person who just happened to be in the area and who was run off the road by the other three assholes.  The other two cars involved were a McLaren and a Mercedes AMG GT S.

That first group of cars that went by looked like a Gallardo and 3 911s.

Then we come across the wreckage and it's an entirely different bunch of cars.

With video footage shot so heinously, I can't decide what is the real shame here.

2018-02-07 02:42:57 PM
So TFA says the person who recorded this was the "driver". If so, why isn't anyone on the dude for farking aorund with his cell phone behind the wheel? I've noticed this never comes up when people are driving and recording video if they record something worth looking at.

It's the 914 of the new millennium.

So we're back to the "a 914 is just a tarted-up VW" days?

So hey, stupid question that might be answered quite obviously - but who benefits the most from a crash like this...

Insurance companies? They took payments on the policy, and this is pretty obvious reckless behavior that would void the insurance straight away. So at the most they maybe got one years worth of premiums for a vehicle that costs about 20 or 30 times that. So do they require a chunk of money down for something big like that, like a deposit or something.

Or is it the dealer and/or bank? I mean even though the guy wrecked the car it was either paid for in full (sorry no refunds for crashes, I assume) or financed, and I'd assume there's something in the text stating if you wreck the vehicle, you still owe the rest of the loan.

Or is it salvage people? I dunno... I guess what I'm asking is: Is there some sort of silver lining when a bunch of rich pricks buy expensive things and wreck them? Who is making a honest living off of their excess? Or is all that money basically disappearing into the ether, never to be heard of again.

How were the emergency crews there that quick?  The cars sped past the person videoing, they caught up to the crash and emergency crews were already on scene?

Like I pointed out in a post above, the cars that initially sped past are not involved in the crash.  It's (I think, video quality isn't great) white Gallardo Spyder and three Porsche 911s.

This video is edited in some way that doesn't make sense.

I wondered the same.   Could be they were just stuck in the traffic behind it long enough.   There was a bit cut from the clip, and we don't know how long that was.

Depends on the outcome.  If the rich pricks live, then the car companies benefit because they have to buy a new car.  If the rich pricks die, then humanity benefits.

I got my 2007 Cayman S to 153 mph indicated once but it took a 3 mile straight. Best car I ever owned but it was due for brakes and tires. I also got tired of 1300 bucks a year for "good drivers" insurance.

The funny part was that, while the cars we saw were going too fast for the conditions and generally driving like idiots, it was "20 year old Corolla" fast, not "supercar" fast.

Strangely, that is the way some of us 356 owners feel about anything that has 12v electrics and/or more than 4 cylinders...

Honestly, if you're driving your red Porsche at 153 miles per hour on public roadways, you deserve the extra $1300 in insurance premiums.
