Nick Foles sucks without God doing all the heavy-lifting.  Great compliment, Tone-man!

Well, he should be in trouble for that, because that's patently stupid.

I'll have you know that Jesus was watching the Puppy Bowl during the whole game this year.

Tony Dungy? The one who drove his gay son to suicide?

Well the second part is objectively true, so I'll give him a pass on the first.

Remember, ya can't spell either Dungy or douchebag without a 'd', a 'u' or a 'g'.

I'm not going to go back and review the tapes but Nick Foles did NOT give credit to God while up on the platform after the game. He gave credit to Jesus.

Now I want a Muslim QB to win the SB next year. And all cameras pointing at Dungy as that QB received the MVP.

I assume the NFL, like the rest of America, is mostly Christian. Only a small percentage of those Christians feel the need to try to prove that they are MORE Christian than most.

but they are only christian because their parents told them to be, and they can't possibly imagine that they'd be full-on Muslims if they had been born in Saudi Arabia.

This lack of self awareness is truly the measure of an unenlightened person.

Considering what happened to his son, he'd probably just stare at the camera with those cold unfazed eyes of death.

You'd think after all this time the taste of Belichick's schlong would've washed out of Dungy's mouth.
Nope, still salty.

So god loves Foles more than Tebow...

2018-02-07 12:28:01 PM
so I'm not really trying to defund this Dungy guy, who sounds rather...well, dung-y, but from what I gathered he's not saying that God was personally guiding Foles's hands but rather that Foles uses his faith as a foundation to feel strong, confident, calm, whatever and therefore play well. even as a devout atheist, I can buy that.

what smacks of asshatery is the underlying tone that Foles could feel that way because his faith is specifically Christian, therefore implying that it wouldn't be as effective if it came from Islam, Hinduism, yoga/meditation, etc.

Not necessarily.  Maybe God did this to test Brady's (or some other loser's) Christian faith.

According to the reports, James Dungy was found by his girlfriend. Now you can say that he was in the closet and trying to not be gay but then you would be speculating. You may want to be sure of your facts.

Yeah, that's what I got from it.  I get tired of the usual God accolades for a team/player winning but that's not what Dungy is saying.

I'm also gonna have to get used to the accolades since Wentz is basically talented Tebow.

If there is a God that interacts directly with our species and puts its efforts into assuring Football scores or plays then we are truly doomed.

Is there an easier way to make money than by fixing football games?
And when God gets His football money, he can buy Joel Osteen a bigger house.

I wonder if God had as much faith in Cover 2 as Dungy did.  And if that's the case, Tony Dungy may have faith in God, but God believes in Chuck Noll.

/But you can't believe in Cover 2 and also be infallible.

Iowan73: I assume the NFL, like the rest of America, is mostly Christian.

I assume that the NFL, like the rest of America, simply identifies as Christian.

There's a difference. Tons of people who answer a phone survey say that because it's how they were raised, but are about as Christian as Donald Trump. Lots of people are afraid to admit that they don't give a damn about religion for fear of being judged as immoral or, worse, different. Not everyone lives in NY or SF you know.

/see? I managed to bring both religion and politics into the Sports tab today, just like whomever is greenlighting this sh*t.

Do you have substantive evidence besides internet message board rumors that Dungy literally drove his son to suicide? Because, if not, that would be a libelous statement.

/At least 26 other posters are fine with libel when the person being libelled is an enemy in the Culture War

Hey bud!  Welcome to the internet!  This must be so exciting for you!  There are many things you'll learn about this wacky ol' web here, but let me be the first to let you know: sometimes people post things in comments sections that others may not like.  Weird, I know, but it's actually pretty common.  In these forums libel and slander tend to not be enforced.  The sheer lawlessness of language can be shocking to some!

My fark member ID is 212891. Yours is 487777. I don't think I need you or anyone else to (condescendingly) tell me how the internet or internet message boards (or FARK threads) work.

I'm well aware the libel is unlikely to be enforced, and that shiat gets said on the internet.  It doesn't make it right, either.

I guess if your moral compass doesn't object to spreading an unsubstantiated rumor, then that's not my problem ultimately.
