So Nick Foles's stock in Philadelphia somehow went UP?

Send New England to the pit of misery!

Philly Philly!

I liked the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich until I went to Philly and had a real Philly Cheese Steak sandwich.

When in Philly, it's just called a cheesesteak.
And the tourist trap ones -- Pat's and Geno's -- are mediocre.

Locals know where to get the best jawns.

A cheesesteak is best consumed drunk or hungover. I was drunk for the Philly special and it was glorious.

Seriously, as an eagles fan I will never see a better game than that one. Even if they won the Superbowl again. It won't have the meaning. I have reached the summit.

So many great moments in that.

Doug hears Nick and just stares into Nick's soul for a moment, then goes "Yea, ok, let's call this thing on 4th down in the farking Superb Owl"

Then you get to the huddle, Nick calls the play and you see Vaitai just jolt up, a "Did he seriously call that?"

Balls of steel--coach and QB, to make the call AND to pull it off. One of the sweetest things I've seen in a SB, for sure.

I always thought there was plenty of discussion in a timeout, especially on a 4th down, on the goal line.  But no.

Timeout
Foles: "Philly Philly?"
Pause
Pederson:"Yeah let's do it!"
Huddle
Foles: "Philly Special...ready"

Glorious

Ha ha ha - I only noticed on a second reading...at the end:
Try Nick Foles touchdown catch

Much like when the Red Sox finally won it all...and then they became as insufferable as the Yankees.

/Give it time for the Cubs...they need to win it one more time to get on track...

As a Pat's fan, I can't even be mad about that. Especially considering how the Pats tried a similar play earlier.
So you get the added "Hold up, Brady, lemmie show you how it's done"

Even if the Phillies, 76ers, and Flyers win over the next few years you'll never get as high.  But you might get more sleep on weeknights not worrying about extra innings or overtime West Coast games that end at 1 or 2 in the morning.

As a Cubs fan, I share the sentiment.  Your first is always the most memorable.

The difference was the execution of where the ball was to be thrown, the Pats tried to have an over-the-shoulder catch so Brady could gain as much yardage as possible but an over-the-shoulder catch is not easy. The Eagles needed like 2 yards so throwing the ball to Foles' gut was the easy pitch & catch version. Tbh as soon as Foles went to the right tackle I knew exactly what happened, was surprised that it caught anybody off guard, gotta think it was the running backs that sold it or TE that sold it as a trick play to the opposite side of the field.

The best thing about this win is that it was Philly that took it from the Pats. It wasn't handed to them by some fluke play or a really poor performance by the Pats. Yeah, you might argue that both defenses sucked, or you could say that the best offense in history got outballed (literally and figuratively) by the second best offense.

Philly stuck their hands into the heart of Chowderhead Nation and pulled their hearts out, Indiana Jones-style.

I'm flying in from Cali to go to the parade. I know it's an irrational and stupid thing for a grown man to do, but this is a once in a lifetime event which may not happen again for another 57 years.

I don't think it's irrational. This is the first time, you don't get another one of those. While it wasn't the first ever WS win by the Red Sox in 2004, it sure might as well have been and a lot of people travelled a REAL long way to be there for that parade.

And I get the rip out the heart thing to, also from 2004 coming back against the NYY. Those two weeks in October you could have robbed almost any store you wanted in New England; no one had slept for days and everyone was in some kind of walking zombie mode.

The Eagles won fair and square and made the big strip when needed. The beat the Pats straight up. Pay those men their money.

This.  They called Ertz's TD "the game winning TD" but that strip was the play that won the game.

Watching at home, I had just said "Ok Eagles, now is the time for your D to step up.  This is the moment"  And boom! Strip! Fumble! Eagles recover!  I'm not an Eagles fan, but I was cheering.

Really, it was a great game to watch all around.

The entire game, I was begrudgingly expecting the Pats to pull another one out of their ass. It wasn't until the Stripsack that I actually believed Philly could actually do it.

"Philly Special" is the Offensive play of the game, but, on Defense, it definitely goes to the Stripsack.

Yeah, it definitely feels that much bigger being a victory over the Patriots.  Had the Jags one two weeks ago, I don't think a victory over them would feel as great.

It's kind of like the Phillies win in '08 against the Rays.  Tampa Bay had a stacked team that year and deserved to be in the WS, but I imagine that championship would have felt even greater had they done it over the Yankees.
