One year ago, President Trump stood before me and thousands of other cheering workers at the Carrier plant in Indianapolis and told us that he was there to save our jobs.
I'll never forget how it felt. All the months I'd spent worrying - how was I going to pay my bills? How was I going to support my 3-year-old son? How was I going to pick up and move on from a job I loved - all that worry was gone.

Some most of us saw it and called it, then. Thanks for the past year. Can we work together to make sure both this sort of man doesn't inhabit the WH again AND find a way to help all working class peoples?

His comforting lies were far worse than the brutal truth, weren't they?

The author still seems seems to think that Moron Don will do something for them.  They need to get it through their thick skulls: Donald doesn't care about anyone except for Donald.  He is done with you. He got what he wanted. But, author, you'll probably vote for him again if he makes you more promises.

"Hey, wait a minute - is that a mask?! Goddamn it! You're a face-eating leopard, aren't you?! AREN'T YOU?!"

...

"AAAAAHHHHHHHHH! MY FACE!"

Today, I'd like to tell President Trump that he can still do something to live up to his promises. He can sign an executive order that keeps companies that send jobs overseas from being eligible for federal contracts. It's that simple. That - not empty rhetoric - would show me and all of America's working people that he cares about us and our families.

LOL holy shiat man, give up! You were used and discarded. He never gave a shiat about you.

Has anyone noticed that when a Trumper is burned by Trump, it's treated like an abusive relationship where they think they can change him and he promises not to hurt them again, only for them to "run into a door" a week later?

Well, much like Trump, most of the people who voted for him are extremely self-centered individuals that only care about themselves, and will only turn on Trump once he DIRECTLY turns on them.

:::sigh:::: Fortunately for us, Trump will eventually do that directly to most of his supporters in one way or another ventually.

I feel bad for people like this. If only there had been some sign before the election that Donald Trump wasn't 100% trustworthy and wasn't the hero of the working class that he claimed to be.

I was starting to feel sorry for the author, and then the appeal to Trumps humanity showed up.

I hope the author watches their children's future crumble into the bitter nothingness that only a gullible racist deserves.

I'm thinking that scene in the movie where the average but not too bright guy ignores all warnings and common sense about the dinosaur/alien/serial killer and meets a gruesome fate.

Sad though it is, the rest of us are standing around thinking "We TOLD you..."

and you told us 'f*ck your feelings'.  you told us pedophilia wasn't a deal breaker.  you defended treason.  you applauded racism, fear and hate.  At every turn, you went to bat for Donald Trump and told everyone else to f*ck off, because DONNY was gonna MAGA.  And now that its YOUR turn in the barrel you suddenly don't like it.  Now that its your turn to be betrayed, used and discarded suddenly NOW you get it.  NOW you understand.  NOW you want everyone else to 'feel your pain'.

convince me why I shouldn't tell YOU to 'f*ck your feelings'.  you have one shot, and it had better be a gotdamn good one.  because I am not inclined to take you back.  I do not believe your conversion is sincere.  you trumpers STILL don't care about anyone save yourselves, and are upset that Donny and the GOP are finally hurting your personal bottom lines.  why should I care about people who repeatedly and often told me to f*ck off?  How can I trust a group of people who are so amoral that even kiddie rape wasn't a deal breaker for them?

I feel bad for this guy and the others who got laid off, but I have to wonder if the speech Trump gave at their plant was the only time they paid any attention to anything he said or did. If they'd just looked briefly into his history of failing to deliver on his promises, maybe they wouldn't be feeling the way they are now. One Google search could have shown then multiple examples of Trump's long time habit of talking big and not delivering. This (feeling betrayed, not the layoffs) was so easily avoidable I don't really know how to feel about stories like this.

Well there were those people whose military family members were KIA, and Trump promised to send them checks but never did, and then when the bereaved went public months later, he finally sent some checks. He will never do the right thing of his own accord, but he can be pressured.

It's funny, you know. America has lots of desperate and scared people. Tons of 'em. Most of them voted for Clinton.

Clinton won low-income voters, and not by a small margin, either. Trump only won one particular type of "desperate and scared" voter: the older rural white one who (statistically) is not actually any worse off than he was eight years ago, but who is anxious about the economic success of "other" demographics.

There are, of course, plenty of working-class blue-collar workers who have actually lost their jobs recently. There are also plenty of upper-class white-collar workers who have lost their jobs recently. That's the way an economy works -- there's always churn, and there are always sectors that are rising and sectors that are falling. But overall we're in a time of historically low unemployment, and over the past two years that labour shortage has begun to push wages back upwards.

For many left-wingers, "economic anxiety" is a comforting explanation for Trumpism: it suggests three things that socialists would very much like to be true. First, it suggests that voters are primarily driven by their own personal economic self-interest as they see it. Second, it suggests that working-class preference for conservative candidates is nothing more than a mistake made out of fear or ignorance. Third, it suggests that social issues like sexism and racism could be rectified by directly pursuing economic redistribution. But that explanation doesn't really match what's going on in Trumplandia.

You guys actually think that Trump ever gave a shiat about your lives? Are you stupid?  He doesn't know the first thing of what our lives are like.  Trump figured the average american spent twelve dollars for health insurance.  Per year.  No, he doesn't know you, and he's never made an attempt to learn, either.  He learned what buzz words to say to make you think he was on board, and then he used you and then he threw you away.  You were never bright enough to look past the facade.   You were never taught well enough to consider things objectively.  You're believers.  You're a flock that the shepherd pulled together just to shear.

But you'll never change, because you think it'll cost you more to admit that just maybe you were wrong about him, then to be continuously conned from here on out.  That's what makes you a mark that a con would die for.  That's your life now.  A party of suckers and marks.

Did you give a shiat about THOSE people's lives when you strolled into the voting booth in November 2016 you stoopid cocksucker? I'll bet not. Worst part? You knew about all before you even voted.

And nuthin from nuthin, you got a double dose of the clap, because not only did you give us Trump (and will likely vote for him in 2020) you also gave us Pence. Explain that you piece of shiat. The author was not betrayed.  Trump is as he has always been - a self-serving, vile, amoral, fat sack of pussy grabbing offal.  The author is too stupid to even grasp that Trump was Trump.  The author would walk up to a rattlesnake and pet it if someone said "It's a good snake and will help you keep you sucky job."

There is one truth in the cosmos: stupidity gets you killed.  A corollary would be: God hates stupid people.  Statistically, God tortures and then kills the stupid.

If the universe is just (and it is not), the author will die horribly but not before he/she sees his/her children die of starvation calling out the author's title "Dad/Mom" and on the author's last breath, I would be there saying "You are a f**king moron and deserve death."

I may be writing vile words, but Trump, his children and all of his supporters are 10000 times more vile - and the author is just too stupid to understand that.  Why are these morons allowed to vote?

What? You were conned by a known con-man? I'm shocked! Especially after the rest of the farking planet told you that he was a con-man and was going to con you. Oh, and after decades of the GOP doing the exact same shiat; promising you the world, then outsourcing/automating your jobs anyway.

Nobody is going to get you your job back. That ship has sailed. But the Republicans will shiat on you and keep stomping you down until you either die or settle for a shiatty wage-slave job; they don't particularly care which. The Democrats will at least provide a safety net for you while you find a new job; if the party keeps trending towards the left, they might even make it financially feasible for you to go back to school to learn a new trade.

Everything the GOP says is a lie. The wealth will never 'trickle down' (and a 'trickle' isn't enough to sustain the economy anyway), they don't want to make America great, immigrants (legal or otherwise) aren't stealing your jobs, they aren't Christian, they aren't capitalist, and they sure as fark aren't fiscally responsible.

The GOP's goal is to suck America dry, then rule the husk with an iron fist, while their parasitic donors move on to a new host.

when we do finally get rid of trump and spank the republicans for being twits....we are going to have the urge to be merciful.  we're going to think 'ok, glad THAT is over with' and try to get back to normal as quick as possible.

don't fall into that trap.

once Donny and his buddies are removed from power and the trials done - the trumpers have to be educated.  we will have to dismantle a significant part of the network that allowed the republicans to become a party that glorifies sexual assault and ignores criminal behavior from its leadership.  we are going to have to be ugly.  we are going to have to be incredibly rude.  Because if we take down Donny but leave the root causes of how and why he got elected alone, we're just going to have to go thru all of this again in another 2 generations.

our work is not done until everyone in this country knows right down to their bones why its a very bad idea to let rich elites and insane clergy run anything without massive levels of oversight and checks/balances.

Shame it'll just make 'em vote Trump again.  "It's easier to forgive someone for being wrong, than to forgive them for being right."  Stupid-ass bigots that voted for Trump have been proven wrong before.  They've been shown, time and again, how wrong and stupid they were from Dubya to Reagan to time immemorial.  Every FARKING time they throw a baby-tantrum and vote GOP because "fark your feelings" actually means "my feelings were hurt and I'm going to stiggit".

Really, the only way this message works is if you wear the "fark your feelings" shirt and pretend to be a true-blue Trumper.  They only understand hatred and spite, so they'll only vote AGAINST someone who picked on them, never someone who reached out and tried to help.
