Relations seem to have thawed. They even sent out feelers to Peter, which is weird but I think proves that a reunion of sorts is on their minds. They're only five years out from their 50th anniversary. I'd be surprised if, at the least, Ace doesn't do a guest appearance on the next Kiss album.

Gene Simmons needs to be ignored. Listen to the albums and go to the shows if you like, but no more media than that.

Anything else is like rewarding a toddler's tantrum.

Now now.  They worked long and hard to convince the flyover states that they were rock and roll.

Ahhh KISS.  They definitely played some music back in the day.  And who could forget the touring and them getting together in the studio to write albums.  Yes indeed. They were indeed a band. With albums and singing, and guitaring, and drumming, and occasionally keyboarding. I remember it well.

Skyking Skyking Do Not Answer: Kiss was great when I was 13.

That was their market after all.

Most (not all) of my friends were fans in that window of 10 to 14 years old. Those of us that weren't were pretty much compelled to play along.

After Kiss came the Nugent phase, then Aerosmith, and then AC/DC.

College rock would follow those...

That's why I put them at the end of the growth chart (above Aerosmith, no less).

On cold hard examination I think I actually prefer the Nuge to Aerosmith.

/ not to AC/DC though

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but Nugent could not, in his wildest dreams, write a song as great as Seasons of Wither.

I really like some of their work, but they strike me as having not really lived up to their potential.

/ may have been a little hard on them vis-a-vis the Nuge

Gene Simmons wanted to put the band of jabronis he's trotting out there now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and leave out Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, but they told him to get bent.

I saw KISS in '76 when I was 8 years old, on the Destroyer tour. Thought they were gods. Then in '77 on the Love Gun tour, watched Simmons trip over one of Frehley's props and fall flat on his face. He got up and kicked it. Since that moment I have viewed them as clowns.

Clowns they may be but I'm sure wearing 7" platform shoes on a dark stage had absolutely nothing to do with tripping.

In regard to the above conversation about Aerosmith. They were okay when they were getting drunk and stoned. I liked "Get your wings". Good friggin album.

Had Seasons of Wither, Lord of Thighs, and a decent version of Train Kept on Rolling.

The 90's and on stuff was really bad. They should have stayed retired.

Talking about Kiss. Good gawd man. Couple of catchy tunes, Rock and Roll all night, Party every day!
Sure, but they kinda sucked other than the few party tunes. No real lasting power, no real musical fortitude.
Not every band has to have deep meanings in their tunes, I'm cool with all kinds of crazy shiat, but Kiss stinks.

Kiss has a handful of good songs. That's more than most bands ever get. I can listen to the music while turning off the human garbage that is Gene Simmons and not connecting the two.

Trump has been a joke for over 30 years. And now being president and all, he's in the news and meida more than ever before. Naturally, the jokes increase too.

Saw Humble Pie in the early 70s.  Opening for them were these clowns in makeup and costumes, shooting fire and spitting blood.  Yep, I saw Kiss before anyone had ever heard of them.

Sad thing was, Humble Pie was a band that just stood there and played their instruments.  After 30 minutes of Kiss it was something of a letdown.  Great show, but what a mismatch.

Cold Gin is a good song.
Kiss annoyed my parents allowing me to exert some control over them at a time when I had little agency of my own.
My cousins and I enjoyed looking like idiots while jamming out to to the live albums.
New York Groove does, in fact, have a groove.
Peter Chris introduced me to Tossing & Turning.

/I have run out of good things to say about Kiss.
