When I heard Coogler was the director I was excited, and a little nervous.  He's brilliant, but does he understand he's playing in Marvel's sandbox.  Then I read this quote from him and upgraded my nervousness to Oscar expectations:

"What Marvel's doing ... is making content that exists in a particular universe, where the characters tie in and crossover, and I think that's a great creative challenge to me-to make this movie as personal as possible. It's going to be my most personal movie to date, which is crazy to say, but it's completely the case. I'm obsessed with this character and this story right now, and I think it's going to be very unique and still fit into the overall narrative that they're establishing. I grew up as a comic book fan, and the same things used to happen in the comic books. You'd have Wolverine's books, and they'd be so much darker and more brutal than the X-Men books, but they'd still fit in when you open the pages of the X-Men book. It's new to movies, but it's not new to storytelling."

Not surprised at all with what was created.

I mean, they've been:

Good, but only by being damn near a pointless shot-for-shot remake of A New Hope,
mediocre to bed but with a kickass ending that kinda saved the boring-ass film at the last minute and
on the 'it was fine, I guess' side of mediocre by normal action-flick standards, but so overhyped and falsely praised by the mouse's propaganda machine that just being like... middling levels of okay felt like it was the shiattiest movie in the history of both shiat and movies.

So... yeah?  I stopped giving them enormous loads of slack for being star wars about a movie ago, only reason I went to the last one was that I was telling myself that rogue one didn't "count".  They're kind of out of strikes now, definitely skipping Han Solo because that's really obviously going to be a boring trainwreck and the chances of even seeing episode 9 in theaters is... low, though I'll probably pick it up when it's free on Netfli... oh, actually Disney is pulling another bullshiat vault thing with digital content, so I'll never see it, then.  And... won't feel bad about not seeing it, so... wait, why am I even in this thread?  I don't think I even care enough to have a fully coherent opinion of generic boilerplate Disney mass-produced processed story-like product number 57.  I'm out.

Just... Well... get read for the shiatstorm of bad user reviews on RT. The Alt-Americans, Disney-haters, and super-hardcore DC fanboys are organizing a major brigade. They have every intention of tanking the user scores on RT. They'll be using fake accounts, bots, and whatever dirty tricks they can to "hurt" the movie's release.

And when it happens, we need to appeal to RT to consider dropping the user reviews section. It has been compromised, and it's useless now. It can be seriously gamed, and that makes it a liability to both the filmgoers and the filmmakers.

Would you also be amused or surprised to know that liberals love old Clint Eastwood westerns in which he's clearly a gun-loving, violent, far-left opportunist? How about a movie about a giant right-leaning, basically fascist corporation putting employees at risk to reverse-engineer weapons of war (Alien)?

No, you don't have to be aligned politically with the protagonist of a movie in order to enjoy a movie, you dimwit. Now can you kindly stop posting this same tired crap in every single Black Panther thread? It's irritating at this point... Like an ingrown hair on your dick.

Because the critics are linking to published reviews, while the user reviews can be submitted anonymously and in large numbers by bots or dummy accounts. Armand White may be a dummy, but his credentials and existence are verified.
