"The Trump Slump" I like it.

Clearly the market has seen Trump panicking, clutching at straws of the Nunes Memo, and said "Jesus is that all you've got?"

He owns this. It's a year in, he got his tax cut for the rich passed. It's the Trump economy now. I know the stock market is not the economy and the president doesn't really affect the stock market directly, but if Trump wants to point to the stock market as proof of his success as president... well then, those are the rules he wants to play by.

He and the GOP can't have it both ways. If you take credit for it going up, you also take the blame when it falls.

Oh, I know it. In the Bush years they were all like "the President doesn't have any effect on the stock market." They flip-flop faster than the Flash putting on his beach shoes.

It's really just a matter of time before one of these right wing talkers blames it on Obama. It's probably already happened. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it had.

Funny how the market took a shiat after the memo was released.

It's as if major partisan strife and massive incompetence in governmental leaders and political attacks that weaken the security and stability of a major economic power cause severe instability in that country's markets which then cause global markets to fall and trigger a feedback loop.

Who knew that such things would happen?

/yes, yes, Mr. Chuck L. S. Ovietly did

I wrote something earlier about people finally starting to worry about the US government coming apart, but after some due consideration, I think the market is just coming to terms with rising interest rates - based on everything I've read about the new Fed chair, policies shouldn't change much. If the Fed panics and decides to not raise interest rates any more, we may see a dramatic rebound. Either way, we just have to wait and see if there will be inflation.

Yes.

/Everything is spooking the market, AND the market is overpriced
//the house flippers are back at it too
///the only questions are how low will it go, how long will it take to hit bottom, and what the hell kind of influence our "stable genius" pee-Resident and everything going on with and around him has on the situation as it goes down

Even if the market correction now isn't his fault, we will see the economy level off in the next year or two.  And his very stable genius tax plan will make the backslide a hell of a lot more painful for a lot of people.

And nobody is going to let him off the hook when that time comes, except for the cultists and a handful of actual billionaires who got their thirty pieces.

I think we are right back to 1929.

Some folks are thinking it is time to get out, we have too much uncertainty, especially when it comes to government stability, and the great sell-off is happening unless cooler heads prevail.

Plus the idiots and Bond villains Trump put in charge want it to all burn down one way or another, and the smart ones are all cashed out after getting their tax cuts and set to take advantage of a collapse to buy in at the bottom and ride to the top again, paying even less in taxes, since the corporate cuts are permanent while the individual ones are temporary.  They can just incorporate a business for themselves to be the holding/investment vehicle while the rest of us take the hits on our 401ks and such.

Even less coming into the coffers at a time when money would normally go further due to low prices and low wages during a collapse.  What farking genuises the GOP are.

Except maybe Kasich, he screwed Ohio to fill up the rainy day fund and if it goes to shiat now before he's out and Ohio happens to be sitting flush on "stimulus" rainy day money he is gonna be looking great as a primary contender against Zaphod Cheetobrox.

Sean Hannity blames Obama for historic market crash

"Theorizing that one could time travel within his own lifetime, President Barack Obama stepped into the Deep State Jump Room accelerator and vanished... He woke to find himself trapped in the past and future, facing mirror images that were not his own, and driven by George Soros to screw over Donald Trump. His only guide on this journey is Joe, an observer from his own time, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Barack can see and hear. And so President Obama finds himself leaping from life to life, striving to put wrong what once went right for Donnie, and hoping each time that his next leap will be the leap home..."

Honestly, I don't think this is 1929 redux or even 2008 redux. I just think it's a much-needed correction. I hate losing money as much as the next person, but 100% returns aren't realistic or sustainable, and that's what we were headed toward based on January's returns.

I'm expecting a few sharp dips that will shake loose stop loss triggers. Bit of a conspiracy theorist but I do think that the financial industry loves the hell out of a few of these shake ups. And as the article says, the heavy margin debt makes the market extremely susceptible to a few quick down ticks.

A few low volume big price drops will shake loose lots of shares at a nice temporary discount. And when the big boys do it you know that nobody in this climate would ever prosecute anybody for manipulating the markets.
