The yuan is forever farked and will cease to be used by the end of the month.

Well, this will do wonders for my RealBitcoin currency, which uses actual blocks on an actual chain attached to a chocolate medallion. The more blocks and chains there are, especially if they're gold, the more valuable it is! Invest now and get a fob watch too!

*Fob is not actually a watch and may in fact be a chocolate bunny named Bob.

Maybe the crypto-miners will lay off the video cards long enough for me to buy one at a fair price

With Yuan.

They probably run a "Refrigerated Produce" facility or something. Pay on time. Nobody audits them. Locals know not to ask questions.

I can't imagine it is that hard to smuggle bitcoins out of China....

/Using them in China may be a different thing...

Thank God.

I had so many friends and co-workers who jumped in at 9k or 10k or 12k or 15k or even 16k...all convinced BTC was going become the next big thing.  I have zero reason to believe that any of them sold and it's now below 7k.  Suddenly all very quiet.

As long as there's suckers buying the shovels. Look into the slightly used market, might find someone selling a recent card that isn't profitable to run hashing on anymore, now that ASICs are crushing things.

What are we back to now...November?  The world has truly ended.

Just wait till tomorrow, should the DOW put us back a couple of years.

I bought at $500, sold out at 7k. I thought things were crazy at that point, never mind what happened since.

It's crazy, crazy stuff. I had a guy who lives and breathes crypto currency helping me out. I mostly just got into it during the Ethereum mining boom because I thought it would be fun to build a mining rig. I'm glad I'm out. It's kind of miserable to have an "asset" that volatile.

I should have cashed out when it was at 25K CDN.

I'm still up 500$. I see the positives, I haven't lost a dime yet. If it goes completely bust it was a fun 100$ gamble.

CSB a local radio DJ bought in at the peak, can't imagine how he is going being down 17K in 2 months

The vast majority didn't successfully time the market.  Virtually all that did, did it by luck, not some deep understanding of the market.

Lots of people win the slots in Vegas too.

If you can time the market, that should be your primary business...

I think investing that initial capital on "black" at a Vegas roulette table would be safer.  Just as volatile, but you don't need to worry about your wallet getting hacked, or losing the password.

There's a lot of hate in this thread. I built a mining rig for funsies, sold it when the difficulty on Ethereum got too high, and dumped the money back into Bitcoin. A hobby turned into a great opportunity for my business. Sorry you're jealous.

I find it mildly amusing that the countries with the highest percentage of their populace invested in crypto (China, SK, India) are the ones who are clamping down to "protect their people". As a result of their actions, they are making huge sums of money that would have otherwise been used in their local economies go *poof*
