BEFORE his death, Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin sat down for an interview that has surfaced more than a decade later.

After his death, he wasn't talking to anyone.

But that was what was so weird about Steve Irwin's death:  Stingrays aren't considered dangerous.  You could count on one hand the number of people who've been killed by one.  Yes, they have a wicked barb, but that barb would have to go straight into the heart, missing all the bones in the ribcage to actually KILL a full grown man like that.  It was a freakish one in a million situation.  Stingrays are also pretty docile and won't attack unless threatened.

Steve handled the most dangerous, venomous creatures on the planet, but was killed by one of the least dangerous animals in existence.

The universe really does have a dark sense of humor, I think.

Stingrays are distant cousins of sharks. They can be mean bastards when they feel threatened.

FFS, he wasn't killed playing with a damn Beagle.

Domestic cats are distant cousins of tigers, and they can be mean bastards when threatened too.  But that doesn't mean they're considered dangerous.  More people have probably been killed by domestic cats (usually from bite infections) than stingrays, and yet we welcome them into our homes and submit ourselves to their soft purry dominance.

The family still works with animals, they are huge conservationists and public figures. I take their love and adoration of Steve as genuine regardless of what upcoming public showcasing is planned. What they do continues to benefit wildlife and educate the world, while honoring him and the goals he had while alive. It would be wrong and odd not to mention him at all.

The Irwins are doing good in the world, they're not the farking Kardashians.

If I lived in Australia, I would want to work for or with them. If I ever travel there, a pit stop will be the Australia Zoo. They can take my money, they do good things with it.

Pretty much this. Nobody is perfect, but its not like Steve went around just poking animals with a stick for the camera. I don't get why some people dislike him so much. He made the decision to educate people about some very awesome, and dangerous, animals on our planet. Unfortunately, it cost him his life.

He wanted people to see the beauty of all animals, even the dangerous and ugly ones.  He seemed to be a bottomless geyser of energy and optimism and it was difficult to not be infected (or, for some, annoyed) by it.

I'd let her handle my snake, if you know what I mean.

You know, she's good with animals, so I know she would take good care of my snake.

What a bunch of pervs

For anyone interested and if the public figure thing is what seems to be your greatest annoyance, Andrew Ucles is basically Steve Irwin reincarnated before fame.

I don't think she is. She mentions she has not been on a date since his death, prompting some women to make the assumption she was not interested in men, where the actual case being, she is just not interested in any relationship.

Yeah, between grieving, raising 2 kids, running a large business, and running a large foundation I can see where dating would take a back seat (especially when you would have to weed out the fame and/or money seeking bottom feeders).

Is she doing bad things with the money she gets for that publicity? Is she boozing and drugging and dressing and acting like a kraptashian slut?

Who cares how she chooses to fund raise. She is not raising funds to be wasted on herself.
