There have only been two episodes of Counterpart so far, but it's shaping up to be a really good show.

It's weird that somebody who is that talented didn't start acting till he was damn near 40.

Me too. It's hard to look at him in other roles and not think of that. I need to re-watch that series.

I run Chrome with AdBlock, and this link is one of the grossest, slow-to-load, ad-ridden sites I've clicked in recent memory. I had to close it.

Which is a shame, because Simmons is a gem.

He caught his brak when he was almost 40.  Likely had been acting for years prior to that.

Article and site were crap. They only mentioned work his fans already know about. The actor is awesome. I would like to see a more in depth conversation with him on his career, so I could learn of less known work he thinks merits more attention.

My first exposure to him was in Law & Order, but I've loved him in everything, even if what he's in still sucks.  Cave Johnson is my favorite of his roles, and I think the Yellow M&M is my most "holy fark, that was him?" role.

I know this sounds kind of dumb, but one of the things I like about him is that he's a hard worker. He is always working and keeping busy. It's like he doesn't take it for granted and is trying to do as much as possible while he still can.

He's also a very good actor.

Years and years of theater work. He was on Bill Simmons's podcast recently going through his career, and he eventually just got to know enough people that he was sort of recruited into it.

There's a professor at my university that is like seeing a vision of Simmon's future. Probably a good 10 years older, and with a slight southern accent, but the projection and inflection are dead on to his more boisterous characters and he's a dead ringer looks-wise. Cracks me up all the time.

There are the rare occasions where seeing an actor unknown to you, or in a new role, when it is a true revelation.  That was one for me, like a kick in the gut.  And he was surrounded by many other talented actors on that show, but he still stood out.

I always wanted to go to a therapist just like Dr. Skoda from L&O.  Then, I sat thru Spider Man, thinking there was something really odd in that movie, I couldn't figure it out.  But, on seeing just a clip or two of OZ, and I was terrified of JK Simmons.  He's probably the nicest guy on the planet, and makes Mother Teresa and Fred Rogers look like slackers, but I'm not closing my eyes around him.

I'm afraid now to listen to M&M commercials.
