NOT having an office affair has an added side benefit.  You'll still be wanking about it 10 years later.

HAVING an office affair?  You'll still be crying about it 10 years later.

A close friend of mine nailed several of the girls working in his office.  Never boasted about it, just did his thing.  Of course they all disliked eachother, but such a circumstance is socially acceptable on both sides of the fence.  But any dude willing to put up with the fallout from all that very well deserves the spoils.

Is it sexual harassment if your female Sarbanes Oxley control tester offers you a blowjob in the server room while testing your compliance for said controls?  Just asking for a friend.

Go to work every day with my right hand being one of the main players. Not sure how you avoid it.

Seriously though. After getting out of a long term relationship I spent a year hanging with a group of coworkers and ended up hooking up with a good portion of my department. Not as any conquest, it just happened. Anyway, now have for a few years been with a co-worker I actually serve professionally. I agree with the article sentiment, it is a bad idea. But it can work.

Boomer. 6 out of 16 were co-workers. It's a huge part of one's social circle. No supervisors or subordinates. Can't we all just have a little fun here?

Having sex with anyone is a bad idea, really. But generally coworker or arranged marriage were the only two options for procreation for human race)

I dated a coworker once, but it was when I was 21 and she was 19, and we were both temp. contractors. Our names were very similar, and we were seated alphabetically, which is basically the only reason it happened.

Sorry, it's just a normal way to call male sexual organ in my language and i didn't think twice about it in English. Besides, doesn't the word dicks have more meanings then one and couldn't that be read as "only dicks stick their penises wherever..." As opposed to "every male" as I intended?

2018-02-04 02:43:13 AM
Why is it so hard for people to do their damn jobs and not treat work like a social club.  The only thing worse than the men who assume that any single female coworker must be "available" are the women who spend the whole time they're on the clock flirting and trying to snag a man.  Some of us show up to earn our paychecks and don't appreciate having to deal with the sex-drama-shenanigans of others.  Yes, the women who show up dressed like sluts and flirt with management do help solidify the culture of sexual harassment in the workplace.

The fallout from that got somebody fired where I used to work. He cheated on one woman he worked with another woman he worked with, and then called his co-workers (in general) idiots on facebook. He was really a charming guy.

My parents first dated at work. My mom had a friend who was in payroll, and so she found out which engineer was making the most money...

Is this article really conflating sexual harassment on the job with office dating? That's utter bs.
Dating numbers may go up or down, and harassment numbers may go up and down, but they aren't related. Harassment is not related to consesual dating! How the Fark are people still unclear about this?!

The hiring practices at your company are going to influence how bad an idea it is to date there.

If your company hires for both work skills and softer "fit" qualities, and quickly dumps the incompetent, the hostile, the creepy, etc., you end up with a pool of pre-screened humans that are disproportionately attractive compared to the random population.

Versus when your company is at the other end of the spectrum; in which case, why are you still even working there? Unless you've taken up serial murder and you wanted a pool of pre-screened humans that won't be reported missing right away.

I'm not defending sexual harassment here, but: work is basically a social club for loads of people. There are a lot of people out there who put in maybe a couple of hours of actual work in an eight hour day. The rest of the time, they're in meetings, on break, smoking, chatting, or farking. For these people, work fulfils their social needs to be around other people and to feel like they're accomplishing something. The primary evidence of the latter is their paycheque; any actual accomplishments achieved are almost entirely coincidental.

This, by the way, is the real problem with automation. There are already loads of people who could easily be replaced by scripts or bots. But work gives these people purpose, structure, and meaning in their lives. When that gets pulled out from under them, they're going to have a hell of a time coping.

/guilty as charged
//maybe not all the time
///but I do fark at work

Or your whole family are just lazy underachievers content with whatever landed on their plate without any actual effort from them. One or another.
