I remember my wife and I switching over to ILC at halftime. Men on Football had us in tears.

I know, I know. But it's up there with sportsball, breeder, and beta in terms of annoyance.

It does get on TV today. Key and Peele, South Park, and the 13-year run of MadTV on Fox right after In Living Color's cancellation are prime examples.

At one point several other channels ran options to the halftime performance.  For instance, the final round of the Glutton Bowl.  Enjoy!!

I think mine let me watch because it was pretty much a documentary of my parents personalities.  And, it was pretty funny.  At least until Peggy got pregnant.

I wrote "network" meaning broadcast over the air, not cable TV.

MAD TV on FOX has been gone for a decade.

In real life Kathy Sagel was pregnant and the writers made a storyline out of it. However, sadly, she had a miscarriage and the show was put in kind of an awkward place.

I do agree around that time the show went from being a very John Waters-like sitcom to this man show hooting and hollering festival.

Fun fact: Divine was all set to be a guest star on Married with Children, but died.

Most of the show did....

The hard work is remembering that FOX was still the tacky national network looking to make a name by having their own brand of "outrageousness."  It was Jerry Springer, it was Morton Downey Jr, it was In Living Color, Married with Children, Simpsons, etc.  It was a network where COPS was mostly a foregone conclusion.  There was a continuity going on very early on there that didn't really break rank until the X-Files if my memory serves me.

Out of all of it The Simpsons was one of the few that were self-aware outside of the realm of its own universe, which is why it has aged as well as it has.

He's a little thicker around the midsection nowadays, but is in good shape for a guy in his 50s.

Probably helps that he's been shaving his head for 30 years. He never had an awkward male pattern baldness phase like Keenan.

I loved ILC and had somehow forgotten all about the SB show.

I believe Colbert coined the term when he still had a show on CC.

I second. It became a way of Colbert getting past the trademark. If there is an earlier example, it has not held up as well.

Except it allowed Jennifer Lopez to become a thing. I hate that show for that evolution. Although Jaime Foxx did confirm that she used to be known as "Hey ho".

From 2014. Though to me it seems like it's been around Fark for longer than 4 years, but probably not.

I remember doing a sketch comedy show at Todo Con Nada, a minuscule theater on the Lower East Side years ago and a bunch of the cast of In Living Color showing up to the show.  At that time there weren't a gazillion cable and internet options for production stuff that people saw so I actually recognized their faces (but not their names.)  I was shiatting my pants with stage fright as though I was primarily a writer, I had been thrust into some rather large acting roles.

A couple of them were very complimentary to me after the show and that made me feel really good.  Gorsh, it must have been the early to mid 90s right about this time.

Sorry that's all I got.  That's my Living Color story.
