Good! We need that in Illinois.

My electric bill went up - on lower usage - after ComEd said the average customer would save a whopping  2 to 3 dollars.

So. Much. Winning!

Now get cable companies to give us the bandwidth they advertise. At the same savings.

So now the state will raise taxes. And take that extra money. They couldn't let someone else get all that money. Anyone want to bet this will happen?

Gas prices have nothing to do with tax cuts and everything to do with Cartels.

Unless you mean Natural Gas which is going up because the US is finally building export terminals...

Defensive of what? The state following its mandate to set utility rates based on factors including corporate taxation? Hells yeah, I'll defend that all day.

Why are you so defensive of the utilities keeping money they're legally obligated not to accept?

If the state wants the utilities to lower the rates that's great. But I said they have an ulterior motive. They will raise taxes to capture some of that money. I live in Calif. They have already proposed to tax businesses half of their tax savings. So I see an ulterior motive in telling the utilities to lower prices. Simple as that.

I had a 7 minute argument with a guy on the phone Wednesday who was unhappy he wasn't allowed to smoke in the drive thru even though he was in the passenger seat(law says 25 feet from business doors and open windows).
"I could see if it was a city law or county law, but this state law shiat is taking way my personal freedoms and I won't stand for it."
"be that as you may feel, the law is the law and if I have to tell one person, I have to tell all."
"well as a military veteran I think it's quite offensive"
jesus christ my people wonder why I drink.

Send me all your money. I know how to spend it better than you. You won't. Why would you want to give it to some politicians who will spend most of it on family and friends with fake job. Then spend a small amount on public services.

Used to work for the *redacted* PSC so I'm getting a kick..

Not taking a side here but my experience was the PSC would set rates based upon established rate cases and normal profit margin that were somewhere between 9-11%

These were often revisited based upon many factors. I'm not gonna bore you with details but the "oooga booga Libtard state gonna take more money because of lower rates doesn't make any sense and I've never seen that play out in reality.

If you have a specific docket I can reference as evidence I'll gladly take a look.  Those are all public record, obviously.

I know how states usually set rates. I live in Calif. I know Massachusetts is a high tax state. NY has already tried some shenanigans to play with the new tax rates. I posted above that Calif. where I live has proposed to take half of the businesses tax savings. All I said was Massachusetts might try the same thing.
