I'm pretty sure this is how the Great Old Ones return and destroy our universe.

Maybe they mean the "Star Wars" laser bolts that come in ammo cans and that you can see moving.

Why? Using a vanilla browser there's nothing wrong with the webpage and Ethan Siegel is usually a good read.

They got rid of their splashpage that caused trouble a while ago.

Those are blaster bolts. They consist of magnetically accelerated tibanna gas plasma.

Thanks for the followup, subby. I submitted the other one a couple of days ago. This helps make sense of it.

Well the things they call turbo-lasers are obviously not lasers either.

Is it capable of emitting a beam of pure antimatter?

BolloxReader: Why?

Because it doesn't load right half the time and it's not worth the click the other half.

Case in point, this one won't open.

For all I know, it's just a gif of a banana with maracas.

Then use a browser that works. Never have a problem loading Ethan's articles linked from Fark.

Because they spam Fark for submissions while still serving-up malware.

No. fark you in the ass with a cactus that doesn't like you.

There's nothing Forbes has to say that's worth me turning off adblock for them. They should fix their crummy website and likewise Fark should stop giving them links until they do.

I desperately need to become friends with people who really understand this stuff AND could explain it to a relative moron like myself...

/might as well ask for a unicorn while I'm at it.

Anything that requires accepting offsite scripting, is a non starter. This problem reared its head last year when krebs did an interview in an online magazine. Turns out foreign agents booked that time / article slot w/ their own "special ads," One day I will get real network bandwidth & just vm sandbox everything. Until then Forbes can suck it.

I can't open the article, but it's my understanding that they've figured out a way to do e= mc2 in reverse.

Normally, you see things like nuclear fission and fusion where a little mass is converted into energy. Here seems to be, again, I was unable to open either Forbes article, that they are converting massive ammounts of energy into mass.

The real truth is that China wants a ground weapon that can destroy enemy satellites in orbit over China. China NEVER does high level science research unless there is a military application.

Let me know when they understand the subject well enough to do that.

That part I got, my question was more along the line of: If the energy level in the vacuum of space is not zero (which I knew) is the energy level a constant irrespective of the expansion of space or does it decrease with expansion?
