Big Sam is managing his 500th match.  He has failed to get a point in his last 8 matches at the Emirates.  Also, of all the managers to have more than 500 matches, only one has managed to win the 500th match: Wenger.

This time of year is always a bit confusing for me. It takes me a while to get used to players with new teams, especially when they've been with their previous team for a long time

My kitties had me up at 6am knocking blue rays off the shelf & jumping all over me.
On top of that, Iggy's gone all super hormonal & is making noises like a wounded Star Wars creature.
Thank heavens for the Nespresso machine.

I expect nothing to go right today, with Arlo filling in for Rebecca Lowe

And a Claret is down from an awkward fall.

I am working on a cup of coffee.  Too bad it will take 4 hours for it to kick in, so I am going to be in a foul mood until about half time of the main batch of games.

Good morning, cats. Hope you all are well.

I'm still coming to terms with knowing I'll have to see a lovely man like Giroud in a blue shirt. It just doesn't seem right to me.

Dear Antonio.

Remember me?
That guy who you hardly ever gave a game to unless you were desperate?
Yeah, well just letting you know how I'm getting on at Dortmund.

Love & hugs

Nice goal there for City.  Just struck too well for the keeper to save.

I saw the highlights from that Dortmund match and just shook my head at Batshuai's performance.

Nice defending to stop a goal from 2 on 2

I am looking st this and thinking, "If only the Clarets had a striker".  I wonder what Calvert-Lewing would do there.

I wish I could tell you it gets better. I'm still getting used to seeing Denis Law in a blue shirt.

It's only a loan, so it'll be interesting to see what happens at the end of the season. Specifically, what the next coach after Antonio Conte decides to do for next season.

Peter Crouch, on finding out that Chelsea had signed Giroud: "I'd go as far as to say they got themselves the division's second best looking target man!"

I propose that anybody who doesn't love Peter Crouch doesn't love life

If' he'd caught it a little lower than his shin, I think he'd have scored there

Let me be clear: I benched Mee because it is City and the prospect of fantasy points from their opposing defenders is...not good.

My all-time favorite Peter Crouch moment came in this interview:

Journalist: "If you weren't a footballer, what would you be?"
Crouch: "A virgin"

Afternoon All,

FFPL re-out to follow during the main batch of games. And an announcement if the cup winner, if I can work out which scores are the right ones!

Am acting as nursemaid for my pal Alison this week. She post ladybits removal. No great chore, she spends 15 hours a day sleeping and a lot of the rest conversing with Jerry Sadowitz.

2018-02-03 08:20:09 AM
That is the most inopportune moment for half time for Burnley

2018-02-03 08:21:20 AM
Right, time for my tea and meat pie.

And yes, I am sitting in my family room in my PJs wearing a scarf and a wooly hat because, as Pista remarked a few weeks back, I am very "method".

Aww. Is Alison of the 2 legged or 4 legged variety?
Sending healing vibes whichever she is

I think I might make a batch of "football pies" , freeze them & pul one or two out of a GW to whop in the oven.
You know. For that big match atmosphere

I like Crouch a lot.

He always seems in interviews like he can't quite believe how his life has gone, because he's played and scored for England, played for multiple big clubs, is married to a model, and knows he's guaranteed a place in the history of the game just from doing the robot as his goal celebration.

He knows the best days of his career are behind him, and he doesn't mind at all.

Two legged. Her band is called Butcher boy and they have opened for Belle and Sebastian.

Morning all...thought I'd be watching Wales v Scotland in the Six Nations but I guess it's on tape delay on NBCSI.  Time to stay away from the Beeb for a while so I don't get the score spoiled.

Man City not just knocking on the door now, they're pounding it with a battering ram.

Very true. He already has a career he can look back on fondly, and against all expectation it isn't over it.

Goalie & Post combining beautifully.
What an understanding they have built up

It's amazing that City have not scored again, and as long as it stays one-nil it's beginning to feel like Burnley might steal something here.

2018-02-03 09:01:26 AM
Good thing for Citeh that Ederson is awake back there.  Two real chances for Burnley in the match, two great saves from Ederson and that's your game.
