Who cares when it's 105 degrees?

At first I read that as "hair conditioner".

The bacteria inside my AC doesn't hold a candle to the bacteria covering my SWEATY FARKING BALLS, MARTHA! I'M TURNING THE AC ON! Other day I stood up and I was still stuck to the chair two steps away!

Fortunately, there is a thing called central air conditioning.  You may have highfalutin' stuff like universal healthcare in the civilized world, Brits, but my climate-controlled environment smells minty-fresh.  Take THAT.

HEPA filters that get replaced..... Problem solved.

It's a shame science hasn't come up with a way to keep pollutants out of HVAC systems, some kind of filter for the air, huh.

Subby is apparently unaware of a process called "cleaning".

Thanks Dailymail.uk. Maybe join the 21st century and install central air/heat with a goddamn filter like the rest of the civilized world.

/I'm well aware that central air is a very American thing.

Guess what, you also sleep in a place where there are millions of dead skin cells and microscopic dust mites that crawl all over you. It's called a bed.

I grew up in northern CA. I never understood what air conditioning was for until I moved to the east coast for a few years. OMG. I never knew humidity until then. Life would have been impossible without AC.

To The Escape Zeppelin!: I'm well aware that central air is a very American thing.

North American.  We love our central air up here in Canada.

Especially when it's at that temp constantly for the last 2 months straight.

The most common and universal form of life can be found in an unsealed device whose entire purpose is to come into indirect contact with as much of the immediate area as possible?

What a shocking and unexpected horror.  Next you'll tell me that room temperature water isn't dry and gritty, or something.

*pinky to lip*  I'd take a smelly AC unit over being shot by a cop any day.

/Canadian though, so I can smugly have both

Strange, most HVAC techs do not recommend using those kinds of filters as they are often too restrictive. They keep recommending using the cheaper fiberglass filters.

High density filters can be used if your system was designed for them , but most are not . I tell people to use the cheap filters but they rarely pay attention .

Best thing you can do for a central air system is spring for the correctly sized and fabricated metal ducks, and minimize any system effects.   It's a one-time expense that pays you back every day.

Those 3" thick HEPA filters need about a 5 hp air handler to actually handle air effectively.
