Thanks, Subby.  Is it wrong that this will be the #1 reason for me to tape the Super Bowl - an ad to rewind and re-watch, maybe even parts in slow-mo?

Some people choose to see the bad in this world. I choose to see Thandie Newton naked.

Lots of samples from that film in a song named after the best quote in it:

/With a little of McGoohan's "The Prisoner" thrown in
//can't name every sample myself

(Of course, someone made a website.  "Futureworld," "2001, A Space Odyssey" and "The Andromedia Strain," but list is non-exhaustive and other samples remain unidentified.

Now that is a movie that I would love to see redone...

A&E did a miniseries of it about ten years ago.  I don't know if it was any good or not, though.

Go check out Phase IV for the LSD-version of Andromeda Strain.

It's not precisely good, but it's damned interesting.

Dead for Tax Reasons: tough to show much of what westworld is about in 30 seconds on network tv

You only need to show that it's about hot killer robots who get naked sometimes.

Yeah...I was so disappointed by that miniseries, since I loved the book and the original film.

That, and their memories are not quite so good.

I'm more excited for this trailer than any of the other ones we're allegedly seeing this Sunday, though I suspect it'll be far shorter than I'd like it to be.   At least we don't have much longer to wait; I'm more excited for Westworld Season 2 than Game of Thrones' last season.

I liked the show until the last episode.  It started out really having you question the nature "self" and "consciousness" and ended on just another robot revenge trope.  Thus, season 2 is not on my "must see" list.

I thought the issue was their memories were too good.

I'm still going to check out season 2, but ultimately felt season one was all style points.  It looked great, and had some really good performances.  The story was all over the place though.

I want to see how they address the guns. Which should have local failsafes to prevent human deaths.

A bit of how i felt.  I really liked what they were doing with Thandie Newton's and Evan Rachel Wood's character: one knowing reasonably early one she a construct and one figuring it out over the course of the season.  The settings were all done well, and I enjoyed the little easter eggs (i.e. the music playing on the player piano).  Ulitately it did fall short for me.

In a lot of ways the "AI run amok" genre has run its course and it is difficult to make it compelling for me anymore.

Ow! That was my feelings!: Such a fun show.

love that film! saw it by accident when i was home sick from school one day as a kid. really appreciate the old timey analog synth score! great minimalist, stylized set design and cinematography too. and remarkably well acted for being just a b-flick or whatever. high fIVe

oh and i should mention there was an original version of the ending that got discovered a few years back. it was originally cut by the studio for taking it too far in the 2001-style direction, super trippy
slightly NSFW there is a boob at one point

I'm with you.

Except the tape thing.

It'll be on YouTube .00005 seconds after it airs.
