Why?   because 14 million Americans don't know how to be adults?

2018-02-02 08:25:52 AM
"Saturday night football" doesn't have the same ring to it.

If you don't plan on being at work Monday after the Super Bowl, you might want to think of a better excuse than having a bad cough. About 14 million others might be using the same excuse.

That sounds like the perfect excuse because it's affecting so many people.

ManateeGag: Why?   because 14 million Americans don't know how to be adults?

I do not watch sports. At all.

Same goes with my former boss. So he would purposefully schedule in office sales meetings at like 7:30am on days after major sporting events. Just to fark with people.

Amused the hell out of me trying to see my coworkers do rundowns of their deals while working through rough hangovers.

kronicfeld: Or, you know, you don't have to drink 15 beers.

But I have been told that the measure of how masculine a man is, is directly related to exactly how much Budweiser he can drink.

2018-02-02 09:06:00 AM
But then people would miss work on Sunday so what's the difference?

I will not be going in.

I used vacation time and it's because working the SB is a 17ish hour day.

Ya know what?  Depending on your job, don't come in if you cannot do it or if effing it up would hurt people.

Applies to:
Doctors
Dentists
Pilots
Anyone driving large vehicles on highways
etc

Scamming long weekends is bullshiat but don't blame the Superbowl

Fact: since millenials entered the workforce forty percent of sick days taken have been either a Monday or Friday

2018-02-02 09:10:25 AM
I love the idea that the same league that is so dedicated to "traditions" to keep the Super Bowl on Sunday has no problems scheduling really bad games on Thursdays that everyone, including players, hate.

Ambivalence: "Saturday night football" doesn't have the same ring to it.

Say it to yourself a few thousand times. Then 100 more. Then maybe, MAYBE you'll have heard it as many times as MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL has been drilled into everyone's skulls.

Amateurs. The trick is to show up for work EVERYDAY with a hangover.

That way your boss doesn't know the difference.

I schedule important meetings after big brony conferences.

It's also the most dangerous Monday to drive to work.  Number 2 most dangerous Monday?  Monday after the "spring ahead" bullshiat.

What's the big deal? Pretty sure most of us schedule it. I know I did, right after the AFCCG. I've got time off to use, might as well take a 3 day in the middle of the winter, get up and make a nice breakfast and have a lazy day, rather than be miserable at work.

I'm taking the morning off on Monday. I'm throwing a party and figure it'll be 3AM local before everyone leaves. Then, I have to clean a bit so I don't have to play "Find the Smell" later. I'll have a few pops, but won't go overboard.

2018-02-02 09:16:31 AM
I learned on Facebook that there's actually a (white person) movement to boycott the game, because the (black) players are being mean to cops (peace be upon them) and the troops (hallowed be their names) and the flag (fap, fap, fap).

Now on the one hand, I hate racists--especially that soft background radiation level of "I'm not racist, I just think those people shouldn't be protesting the police; I mean if those people don't want to be shot they shouldn't do bad things"--but on the other hand I hate football, so I don't know who to root for here.

Or just be on the West Coast where the game is usually over by 7 PM.

Move the kick-off up to 4:00 or 4:30.  Problem solved.

What's the correlation to companies getting rid of sick days and lumping everything under "personal time"?

And how many of those days are only taking a Monday or a Friday, or does that include someone calling in Th-F?

And why would you only take a Tuesday as a sick day? The point of a sick day isn't that you're so sick you can't work, it's to not come to work so you don't get everyone else sick.  You aren't doing that only taking one day off in the middle of the week.

Pretty sure the time isn't the problem, regular Sunday night football games start 2 hours later than the SB.

When did "calling out sick" come into fashion?  I've been in the workforce for 30+ years and had never heard this term until just a year or so ago....I've always just called in sick.

/I'll be here Monday morning

I guess the takeaway from this thread is that a lot of people are outraged that someone might use a sick day to enjoy themselves. How dare all these people abuse a system that values productivity over human happiness.
