Even I'm not that big of a Star Wars geek.

....and that hilt is Luke's saber. His blade is green, not blue.

The whole point of this is how cool it would look at night. Number of night shots in the linked video: 0.

Yeah, but that "voom-voom-voom-voom" lightsaber sound is going to get annoying after a while.

Most after-market car lighting is illegal.  It varies by state, but generally speaking, you're going to get a ticket if you have an oscillating red light on your car and you're not an emergency responder.

So you go Mace Windu and have a purple LS.

That's going to be mighty distracting to the guy texting behind them.

One of my kid's classmate's parents have one on the back of their SUV. I often end up behind them in line at the morning drop off. So I get to see it quite a bit. I never realized it lights up.

He's not texting. He's posting to Facebook a picture of a windshield wiper.

Do people run their rear window wipers for more than a couple of swipes at a time? The only time I run mine is to clear grime and even that's just a couple of swipes to get the worst of it. I haven't been paying enough attention to notice how long/frequently other people are running them. Of course, having this increases the likelihood of people running them longer just for the novelty, but it seems like it would quickly become too distracting for the driver as well.

Meh, either way... #firstworldproblems.

I only leave it on during rather heavy rain.

As if visibility in the rain weren't bad enough, now you can put a flashing light between your eyes and the road ahead.

Brilliant.

The color purple currently has no official meaning in the US, at least as far as traffic is concerned.  I hope we can keep it that way.

Nope, he's wrong. That's Obi-Wan's saber. Luke's lightsaber looks similar, but has a simplified design (The props for Luke's lightsaber were originally stunt versions of Obi-Wan's saber).

/ I am big Star Wars geek.
// Big enough that I've built my own lightsaber.
/// My training is now complete.

Purple is actually used commonly by funeral services,  usually the lead vehicle in a funeral procession (provided by the Funeral service) and The ME/Coroner also uses them.  I can confirm they do in PA at least.

It should come with a free flesh light, because they're going to need it.

That's one of several designs and it would appear that it is possible to have custom designs made. The only restriction would be out of necessity it must be something long and slender.

Can anyone think of something long and slender?
