Promoters who know they can make more than that off of them.

Why all the hate? They're a fun pop group. They put on a good show. Not every music act has to be a great talent, just as not every novel needs to be Catcher in the Rye. I'd go see them if they're on tour, my friends and I would have a fun outing, sing along and dance, and buy a few t-shirts.

What's so bad about that?

Damn, son, there are literally hundreds of novels you could have held up as examples, but you went with that droning claptrap? Are you Robert Ackley or something?

Look, I'm old and I don't get all that noise the youngsters are listening to today, but I think the Spice Girls are harmless fun. Are they worth $50 million? No. Of course not. But we live in a world where Nicki Minaj has a net worth of $70 million.

I don't listen to "headbanger music."

The Spice Girls were still pretty overhyped and ridiculous, though. ;-p

"Saw the Spice Girls on 'Letterman' -- they had backup singers. Hey, I don't want to judge anybody, but if there are five of you, and you just sing and don't play instruments, and you need backup singers -- there's something wrong."

Tommy Bahama shirts all the way down, man.

I grew up on a barrier island in Florida. Poor though, so my aquatic experience was limited by how far out I could paddle a surfboard or canoe.  A high school friend lived on a yacht in the local marina; his dad had worked for Kissinger, and was pretty well off. So I've seen what the combination of lots of money and water can do. I don't really like Jimmy Buffet. Always associated his music with rich assholes drinking all day on boats I'd never be able to afford.

The hotly-anticipated reunion of cult Nineties girlband The Spice Girls is believed to be going ahead, six years after all-five members were in the same room together.

Pop music doesn't require talent. Never has. Not by the "artists" at any rate. It's vapid and catchy and crafted to appeal to as many people as possible. Obviously a lot of people enjoy it, or it wouldn't sell so well. If you're looking for musicianship, integrity, originality or risk taking, you shouldn't be wasting your time with pop.

yeah... it all seemed... asperational.

ill never begrudge these folks those those dreams, and it really is about having a state of mind.

but honestly.. there is absolutely no difference between those fans and the kiss army.. or.. juggaloos, or Bohabs.
just devoted fans having a good time...

i do whisper "farking boat people" under my breath...
for myself..
because ultimately it makes the mother and the mother in law happy, and that ultimately makes the wife and myself happy.

i dont mind the music really, and at the end of the day.. if the people I love are happy, then so am I.

i dont expect my mother, MIL, nor my wife to go to Gwar show though.
