I think he meant "kebobs". I ate a 10 million year old kebob not too long ago, I think.

And, depending on how you define "earth," not even those two. I mean, the whole shredding of all matter and energy (unless we are in a big crunch scenario) a few orders of power of time away...

*sniff*

Guess I'm saying is: smoke it whilst you got it, grow some more, and repeat, because it does end at some point.

That and elect me supreme overlord. I think we could solve the problem in a few tens of billions of years, waaaaaaaaaaaaaay before we have to worry about a Big Shearing.

Everything is dust, if the wind is strong enough.

2018-02-02 07:46:55 AM
On a universal scale, yes. On the same scale, nothing cares.

2018-02-02 07:52:59 AM
No.  And that is a stupid concept.

You can be dust in the wind.  You will almost certainly be forgotten by history.  Unless one of two things happens:

1.  You do something absolutely great
2.  You do something absolutely horrific.

Then you will be remember long after you are gone.  After all, it is up to you to make a mark in history.  If you want to not be dust in the wind, you'd better get cracking on doing something historic.

Western philosophy:  The universe is everything.
Eastern philosophy:  The universe is a temporary bubble in the sea of the infinite.
Rock band philosophy: Let's write a song about dust. It will mean something.

counterpoint, by one P.B. Shelley:

And on the pedestal these words appear:
'My name is Ozymandias, king of kings;
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!'
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

And yet, his rock remained.  And we know who he was.

That's still temporary. How many historically important people do you know of from 600 BC for example, compared to the one's you recall from the last 60 years?

Eventually the human race will end, and no one will be remembered at all. Nothing lasts forever.

Another one bites the dust in the wind that yearns to wander back to the cabin on the hill in a land called Somewhere over the rainbow way up high and rising sun you can feel your life begin when dreams of a lifetime must come to an end of the night of the long knives hung on the wall so strong and tall as the sky about to rain coming down on a sunny day after day there's a voice I long to hear that whistle blowing up the sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy people laughing in the grasses that hide the greenback dollar more than the collar me don't collar me I've got my spine I've got my Orange Crush.
