No worries, I had also never watched the show until it moved to Netflix (because fark Crackle). I didn't learn until after watching the first couples episodes that Netflix has rearranged the Crackle episodes into "bundles" (as opposed to seasons) where everything's completely out of order. The Jim Carrey episode, the first one in the first bundle, is actually from the sixth season of the Crackle show. The second and third episodes, the Jimmy Fallon two-parter, are from the fifth season. It's frustrating because it's a show shot like a documentary but because everything is wildly out of order I'm distracted trying to figure out "What year is this?".

D(lots of A's)nm.

Why is it that the few times when it is actually appropriate to blame the victim - the dead woman - no one does?

I get it though, which makes it twice as sad.

One of only two times Jerry looked completely at a loss in that show. (The other was with Norm McDonald)

Or the Tina Fey one, he shows a flashback of something Louis C.K. said on his show. But that episode doesn't show up until like 20 episodes later in the Netflix collection.

Just because they decided their cause of action wasn't likely to win in court, doesn't mean he didn't cause her to despair and end her life. He gave her incurable venereal disease: you think that can't tip someone over the edge, to know the person they loved was that callous of their wellfare, and know that's going with you the rest of your life? Ugh.

My wife's uncle works at a pharmacy in L.A. and I've heard him say that "(in Hollywood) everyone has herpes".  Maybe don't sleep with anyone in the group and you'll be better off.

Yeah, I'm sure when he showed them what his attorney's fees were likely to be and they found out that when the case was dismissed or he won he could put them on the hook for it, those grifters made a u-turn right on out of there.

Not defending him giving her Herpes, but you do realize that many people with it:

1) Live normal, long, full lives
2) Don't always have symptoms (many people are asymptomatic)
3) That herpes wasn't considered a horrible, horrible thing until companies needed a market for their new antiviral drugs and started a shame campaign.
4) It is estimated that one-third of the US has HSV-2

My BiL and his wife are docs and have known several people with herpes over the course of their medical careers. They would tell you that after the first outbreak or two (if they had one) many people rarely had symptoms ever again. Two of the gals his wife was OB/GYN for found out when they got pregnant and it showed up on a test she gave them when they went in for their prenatal visits.

So a few of lessons folks:

1) Assume 1 in 3 people you meet has HSV-2
2) Use protection at all times
3) HSV-2 is not the end of the world, it doesn't even register as remotely close to the end of the world

inglixthemad: 4) It is estimated that one-third of the US has HSV-2

Umm cit that one as the CDC says

"Genital herpes is common in the United States. More than one out of every six people aged 14 to 49 years have genital herpes."

HSV-1 is present in something like 80% of the population and can also be transmitted genitally so, yeah. Most of you all have herpes and if you are at all sexually active or ever have been, it's a damn certainty you have been with someone who had herpes, whether they knew it or not

If you think you are oh so clean go and get a farking test. And not the general STD test that people usually get. You have to ask for it specifically because it's not included in the general test. Because it really isn't of medical concern. Because it's farking harmless and benign 99.99% of the time. There's a 4 out of 5 chance you carry it whether you have ever shown symptoms or not. Oh you aren't going to do that? Because you'd rather not know if you have to disclose that information to every future partner? But you still want to be self-righteous about those who do know their status? Well fark you then

The rumor on Crazy Days and Nights was the medical records being used to show she didn't previously have a STD were fraudulent.  If true not only would their case fall apart they would be in deep shiat.

Again that was a rumor.

Estimated because many people never have symptoms and, therefore, never get tested for it mate. I think that was done by UW Madison, but it could have been a different uni.
