Not that I watch football anyhow so I truly don't care if they kneel or not.  I find it disrespectful to the country but it's the NFLs right to allow it so there ya have it

the difference is in who's making the statement. the NFL itself isn't out there standing or kneeling; they're leaving it up to individuals to do either for themselves. while the ad is sponsored by AMVETS, putting it in the official program would imply that the NFL agrees people should stand. they wouldn't run a "please kneel" ad either; they're trying to remain neutral.

How many America patriots stand while watching the game at home or the bar?

How many even pay farking attention to the anthem?

Maybe the simpletons who are outraged by this will continue their boycotts.

The NFL is going down. Any. Day. Now.

People love to make up a reason why they're kneeling that is completely different from why they have said repeatedly that they're kneeling.  Given that, I'm shocked beyond belief that people have not made up a reason for people to be upset at the kneelers that is not being disrespectful to our country/armed forces/apple pie.  Maybe... "If you're against kneeling, then you're for people being shot for no reason." or "If you're against kneeling, you must be a member of NAMBLA."  I've heard so many reasons "why" the players are protesting, and it's rarely the reason they've stated that they're protesting. It's some other bugaboo or fantasy-land thinking, and they ought to know their place and take whatever is given because they make a lot of money.  Perhaps if people fought back with made up reasons why the players shouldn't be kneeling, then the complainers would understand what it feels like.

Such as "I find it disrespectful to the country".  It's an honest statement, but what I hear is that you don't support one of the core principles of the United States of being able to peacefully protest - especially when the point is valid.

Out of all the replies from people who don't get what I said yours is just the dumbest.

You have the NFL part wrong, but I respect their right to allow it.  Just like I respect Westboro's right to do their thing.  I thought that was pretty farkin obvious.

What do you mean, "allow it".    As opposed to what?   How do you dis-allow something like that?  crack 'em with a whip?    i suppose you can try fining them, but thats not going to stop it one bit, in fact will only make them double-down, and would not be a good look for the league to try and enforce fines.

From Charity Navigator:
AMVETS National Service Foundation was created in 1948, with the goal of assisting our returning veterans from World War II by aiding in their readjustment back into civilian life.

We're already subsidizing WWII veterans with a dozen subsidies, including housing and senior assistance.  Republicans HATE people who aren't earning their way.

They mean they are so gracious that while they equate kneeling with paying to make a political statement, they won't be so uncouth to claim that the people should be ashamed of their actions even though THEY HAVE REPEATEDLY SAID HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH DISRESPECTING THE COUNTRY!

Which is why the anthem should be this:

Oh, I was eating some chop suey
With a lady in Saint Louis
When I sudden hear a knocking at the door
And that knocker hey says "Honey"
"Roll this rocker out some money"
"Or your daddy shoots a baddie to the floor"

I saw a Fb post where a guy was ranting about how the NFL has lost their way and he will never watch another football game ever.

This is a guy that ran fantasy leagues, and subscribed to the NFL network.  He loved football last year.  Then D2S told him to hate the NFL so now he does like a good little loyalist. Why yes, he is from an evangelical family.  How did you know?

But it IS the NFL allowing it.  They could ban kneeling during the anthem if they wanted to, or individual teams could do it.  The NBA, for instance, has a specific policy banning kneeling during the anthem.

Many people find the kneeling disrespectful to the country, or to veterans, etc.  The common refrain I hear is that it's nobody's place to tell people who they can protest.  If that's true, then it's also nobody's place to tell people who those protests can make them feel.

How many people have taken a knee during NBA games the past two years?  The NBA has a policy specifically requiring players to stand for the national anthem.  They  have zero problems enforcing it.  Why do you believe that the NFL couldn't enforce it?

Which is stupid.  Taking a knee is not a disrespectful posture.

Do any of these people feel taking a knee is disrespectful in other contexts?  Do they consider people kneeling in church to be disrespecting God?  Do they consider people kneeling at a grave site to be disrespecting the fallen?

No, they don't.

The only people who consider NFL players kneeling during the anthem to be disrespectful are easily manipulated idiots who have been told to consider it disrespectful by those in power who support the systemic racism and police brutality NFL players are protesting against.

No. People pretending the kneeling is done FOR ANY REASON THAT IT IS NOT should not be legitimized. Don't help turn this into The Land of Make-Believe.
