Not technically "another" NHL team, I believe, but still...

Seattle having an NHL team makes more sense then, say, some city in a desert having one, or Seattle having their own NBA team.

It's in the US, but much too cold for hockey. Honolulu, perhaps?

The "Original Six" weren't the first six teams in the NHL. They were the six NHL teams to make it through the Great Depression and World War 2.

Serious question,

Why dont they move Phoenix to Seattle? Don't they draw horrible because of ownership/crap arena/location? Or do owners want that sweet sweet new franchise money like they got from Vegas

I expect it's part money, part wanting to balance the conferences, and mostly having a struggling but existent franchise that can be moved on short notice doing wonders in terms of tax-payer funded arena upgrades.

Ding ding ding! There were actually several more in the years right before the start of the Original 6 era- the last one to fall that led to the Original 6 was the New York Americans who ceased play in 1942. 9 other teams existed between 1917 and 1941.

"Golden Knights games are broadcast on Root Sports coverage areas in Montana and Idaho; that overlaps with what is considered Seattle territory. "

As a Seattlite that has Root sports, I wish they would broadcast the Knights here.  Moar hockey on TV please!

That would require a huge amount of excavation, plus there's the fact that there's already a whole city there.

Because the entire league can split a $650 million expansion fee. When the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg the NHL charged a $60 million relocation fee.

Apparently it's based upon the Youtube user's preferences (?).  Maybe he or she thought it would get taken down in the States for copyright violation.

Also the Seattle Metropolitans never played in the NHL.

Subby may not realize this but the Stanley Cup has a longer history than the NHL.

/NHL is the league with the coolest founding
//an owner so annoying that the rest of the owners made their own league
///and with Vegas they finally have their blackjack and hookers

No, that's the official YouTube for the show, maintained by ESPN. I guess they don't want Americans viewing it...

As a Canucks fan, I look forward to the I-Fivalry.

It'll be cheaper to catch a Canucks game in Seattle than it is to watch one here.

Because they need another expansion team to balance the divisions.

Still have the Rochester Americans though.

Pretty crazy that they aren't mentioned on the wiki for the NY Americans, despite even using the Amerks nickname.

Because they have nothing to do with each other other than happening to use the same name?

Different locations, different levels, different leagues, different times.

Fark yeah!  I can finally trade in my San Jose hat.

God love the Metropolitans, but this team better be named the Kraken, or I release the Kraken.

G.I."Tex" Rickard  saw the money the Brooklyn/NY Americans brought in to his(2nd?) MSG so he boned em for "Tex's Rangers"

Because the owner in ARIZONA doesn't want to move the team and contrary to popular belief, Bettman doesn't tell the owners what to do; the owners tell Bettman what to do.

Don't pay to move a franchise.  Pay the 250 million for an expansion team.  With the way the last draft worked you will have a first place team right from the start.

Would be nice if they got the arena debacle situated.

Arizona sports are a mess when it comes to stadium issues. Every pro team there (except the Cardinals aren't happy with their current stadium/arena)
