Yeah, I'm pretty damn sure the Pats will win this one easy, but I'm still rooting for the Jags.

AFC/NFC Championship games are worth 40 points each if you picked the correct winning team.  33% of participants picked the Patriots to win this game; 22% picked the Jaguars.

So 45% called a tie?

I'm wondering if the Brady is hurt/not hurt saga was just another mind game aimed at the opposition?

I AM SO NERVOUS ABOUT THIS GAME. And the worst part is that I can't watch until the fourth quarter, because we have a show at 2 today. I'll be popping in and put of the thread until I can get my ass to the nearest sports bar after the show.

Let's go Jaguars, let's go! DUVAL TIL WE DIE!

45%, before the playoffs began, picked a team who didn't make the AFC Championship (Steelers).

If you're nervous that means you think your team has a chance to win. That's a good place to be.

Can't wish you good luck because, well you know.

I'd feel better about today if (a) it was snowing instead of 50 degrees and sunny, and (b) Tom wasn't hurt and, bonus, I wasn't afraid of seeing Pissy Brady today. Which I truly am. Because we all know what happens when Pissy Brady comes out. And it's not good.

I'm as nervous as a squirrel on a highway and I'm pretty sure we are gonna get crushed just like that squirrel.

But we made it this far, which is further than I ever thought we would. I'm proud of my team.

Brady is going to win the game and then go home and bang his supermodel wife on a huge pile of money while Gronk jerks it in the corner.

2018-01-21 12:04:14 PM
If you held a gun to my IRL head and said "Your next paycheck is on the line, pick a winner", I'd put that bad boy on NE, because smart money just don't bet against the Cheatriots at home in the playoffs. Darth Hoodie will force choke your happy ass and take your wallet with a laugh.

THAT SAID!

Jacksonville's got pretty much the exact defense you would want to go up against NE and have a chance. Much like Seattle held them in a neck-and-neck low-point struggle not long ago, they have the fast, lanky corners that can take away the deep ball AND match up with GRONK SMASH in the middle. They have the fast linebackers to take away the slants and inside release draws fairly well, and they have the pass rush to rustle Tawmy's jimmies with the base 4-man, which gives them an extra body to rush or cover low.

This game could very well end up coming down to...sadly...can Jacksonville's 3rd option on offense put up points against the NE defense?

Playing against NE, especially at Fuxborough, is double-damned tough. Belicheck is the grand master in taking away what you do best, and usually your second best thing as well. You're gonna need your backup RB, third TE, or some schlep undrafted WR walk-on to come off the bench (prolly fresh up from the practice squad at Christmas) and make a handful of impact plays. And they'll need to come from the delivering hand...of Blake Bortles.

Not a strong bet, IOW.

If *any* defense has the raw tools to hold NE to, say 17-24ish points, it's Jacksonville. Where we have a problem is then configuring a game plan to have the Jacksonville OFFENSE put up <17 to 24>+1 in order to make it to the Owl. Without giving the ball up.

Could they? Yes. WILL they?

Welp...that's why we're watching, right?

Heh the F15 flyover scheduled for before the game is cancelled, per government shutdown.
BUT the troops did get back their tv and radio stations to watch the game, the DoD determined that's "essential."

2018-01-21 12:36:55 PM
I don't really care who wins this game. Though jags in the super bowl just doesn't sound appealing.

I'm little upset though that Brady didn't have the trainer put one of those clubs on his hand like the O-linemen wear when he had his last press conference just to fark with people.

So this isn't on Youtube yet (as far as I can find), so I have to send the Facebook link instead, but...this came out pretty cool.  Hope they show it right before game time, and not at the beginning of NFL today.

Brady has a hand injury, so he's due for 843 yards and 9 TDs.  So Bortles just needs 10.  Easy Peasy.
