I think that *every* time I see her name in the opening credits.

Huh, even zombies die if you destroy the head.

At this rate, this series is going to end with the zombies putting the humans on trial and calling all the dead former cast members back as surprise witnesses.

So maybe this is one of those sideway promotions. As long as "bring out the Gimple' is no longer show runner, and hopefully never on Talking Dead again, I'm good with this.

Current showrunner Scott M Gimple has been promoted to the job of Chief Content Officer and will oversee the whole Walking Dead TV universe - which includes spin-off Fear The Walking Dead.

Not gone.

I wonder if it is one of those promotions where he is in charge but can't make an decisions aside from when to pee and go to lunch. Anything else has to get approval.

They didn't actually mention anything Kang directed previously.  Oh... she didn't.  She was a writer.

This should end well.

Are we done with the zombie thing yet?  We got rid of the vampire and werewolf fascination shouldn't zombies be done with by now?

I tried watching the FTWD marathon that was on recently.  I tried going in with an open mind, because I really had really high hopes and kinda liked the first few episodes (to me, the most interesting part of the collapse of civilization), but some of the character actions and motivations really started to bug me with their nonsensicalness.

Like directing a random episode of a sitcom or procedural not showrunning.

No, actually.

What even is a "showrunner"? Just some pretentious nick name for director.

Basically, if the last few seasons of WD is what a "showrunner" gets us we don't need any.

It's fairly common for soap operas such as All My Zombies to replace characters from time to time; a soft voice over in the vein of 'the part of Rick will be played by Victor Hutonoff' and everyone carries on as if nothing is amiss.

The Googles Do Nothing: Are we done with the zombie thing yet?  We got rid of the vampire and werewolf fascination shouldn't zombies be done with by now?

God I hope so, it's hard to fathom but zombies are more overdone than vampires.  Unfortunately the thought of a real life zombie outbreak plays directly into the "unload a clip of ammo in my neighbors face" scenario.

It's a producer/head writer. So no. Not at all.
If a showrunner was directing, the show would come out every three years

I just want to say DigitalSpy is infuriating. They write stupid "10 biggest plot holes in Game of Thrones" articles and then don't have a damn comments section where I can explain the answers to almost all of those "plot holes" and poke holes in their stupid article. Their layout is shiat, too.

Anyway, as to The Walking Dead: The last season was garbage. This whole deal with the Saviors is turning out to be a big waste of the viewers' time. They've lost focus, and they're writing the characters to be REALLY stupid. Negan is worse on screen than he was on the page, and if they think they're going to go with the redemption arc of the comics and the audience is going to accept that... Well, they're just nowhere near correct. They've done too much to make us hate him, and no amount of self-realization or coming to the rescue will make the audience fully accept his babyface turn.

The show is falling apart, and the last showrunner (who really didn't deserve a promotion  after that awful season) was fully to blame. Bringing in a new person might help, but cleaning up this awful mess of a show to get it back on track will take some effort, and I don't think they really have that effort anymore.

Which is about how often a watchable episode comes out now on that show.

Show was entertaining enough, occasionally thoughtful though I sometimes thought the shooting gallery scenes excessive and at least once a season considered quitting. There just wasn't much else on I wanted to watch.

A few years pass and there's plenty of comics TV with more on the way, Glenn and Abe die and I decide that's enough and with streaming I can easily catch up anyway if I change my mind.

I haven't.

/let me know if they bring in simon garth

"Showrunner" is the term for the exec producer who actually manages the day-to-to-day operations of the show (telling writers where the plot is going, approving scripts, character deaths, romances bla bla bla) . "Executive producer" alone doesn't tell you who's actually in charge anymore because by the time a successful show reaches its later seasons, there are four or five people with that title just because the studio needed to appease someone in their contract renegotiations.

For example, by the time 24 reached its 5th or 6th season, Kiefer Sutherland was one of its "executive producers," just because they couldn't have got him back to star in the show without the important-sounding title.

The only clever thing about the show is that it tricked guys into watching a soap opera. Soaps have no end game. It is the show that never ends, it just goes on and on, my friend, somebody started writing it not knowing what it was, but it'll go on forever with no reason just because

I'm surprised they were breaking viewing records after season 2. Somebody must love the format, or have some glimmer of hope that the show is not just endlessly wandering. Hell, the zombies just became background after that. Every season is "find new camp of people, oh no we don't get along"

You obviously haven't read the comic book nor missed Rick's monologue right before they got to the prison. The zombies have always been a backdrop

Don't think it would work for The Walking Dead, but that was an excellent episode of Supernatural.

Ant: Are they going to kill off that stupid, over the top Negan character? Who the fark would willingly follow that guy?

Negan (farking beta male fantasy of male domination that he is) is my #2 reason for quitting TWD; #1 was the stupid "will they kill Glen or won't they" bit that they spent so much time teasing, and then just did it the way it happened in the comics. It was mean-spirited, like they were trying to see how much they could get away with.

Don't miss it.

As someone who didnt watch until last year it was fine. Cant botch about what a loy of you do because I disnt have to wait and i wasn't sitting razor blade ready if they syraued from the comics.

A lot of shows are okay with a fast forward button. This is one of em. Watch what you like dont what you don't

Gimple being replaced as showrunner?  I might start watching again!

*reads TFA*

He's being replaced because he's been promoted to overseeing both shows?
