If Oakland fans had any sense, the colliseum would be empty for the remaining home games

This is a stupid concept by the NFL.  Thankfully, it'll be an away game for us so we'll still have the full slate of eight regular season home games.

two west coast teams playing in London is a sure fire way of ensuring no hometown fans of the teams even see the game.

If I don't end up going, I'm still going to wake up early to watch it.

/Although there is a chance I'll be lazy, sleep in, and DVR it.

There is a chance the game will have a 10am start time. Cardinals/Rams was a 10am start (PT) this year, but the other games, with no west coast teams, were 6:30 am (PT) games.

Assuming the league does the sensible thing and sets if for a 10am kickoff, I'm sure Seahawks fans will start complaining about time bias and all that.

So, two west coast teams are going to play on London time?
Bold strategy there, Goodell. Let's see how it works out.

I could've used your cousin when I missed a connecting flight and had to spend a night by Heathrow last fall. I toyed with the idea of heading into town but was too tired and too pissed about the flight. A nearby pub might have been just the ticket.

I have a nephew who's a Raiders fan for the craziest reason. He was a huge Randy Moss fan, right from when Moss came out of college. He would have been about 9 years old when Moss was a rookie. So the kid adopted the Vikings as his favorite team, and naturally switched to the Raiders when Moss was traded there. Moss played one disappointing year in Oakland and was then traded to New England. My nephew, by then a teenager, couldn't bring himself to become a Patriots fan. So he stuck with Oakland, and he's been a big fan ever since. Because of Randy Moss and his one crappy year there. Dude's pushing 30 now, and he knows more about sports than just about anyone I know, and he's a die-hard silver and black guy.

Because Seahawks fans, largely being from Seattle, are a smart and cosmopolitan bunch who understand that a 10am kickoff in London against another western team is not the same thing as a 10am kickoff on the east coast against an east coast team.

Well those snowflakes should be exampt, then. They could always forfeit, or leave their better players at home for that week due to 'injury'.

I think London games are are dumb idea by the NFL to begin with, but until that changes, you gotta roll with it

CSB:

I was at the away game versus Jacksonville, and to be honest, I'm glad they moved it from 10AM to 1:30PM.

I went to the Oak/Hou game.  We ate at Pujol, #20 on the the Top 50 Restaurants of the World.  We had lots of fantastic meals, including one overlooking that giant historic square used in the helicopter scene at the beginning of that recent Bond movie.  People forget that it's a much bigger city than New York or London.  There are many nice parts to shop and eat; it's not all slums where you get mugged walking around.  See pictures, below.

Best.  Time.  Ever.  Starting at the airport (SFO), on my flight were Trent Dilfer, Herm Edwards, one other broadcaster (can't remember at the moment) and all of the Raiderettes.

We had eight of our tailgate group, and had a van to be our personal driver the whole four days (and we could drink while being shuttled around for days to all of the beautiful and historic sites we wanted.  Went to the NFL Fan Fest, saw all the thrilled local fans, and (as you know) Estadio Azteca is very impressive at which to attend a sporting event.

Was definitely the highlight of my year, and not just as far as sports.  Great times, great memories.

I love how much people hate on the raiders. Have people forgotten, the city council of Oakland gave a big f u to the raiders back in early 2016 (raised rent by 4x) and told the Raiders the sooner you leave the better... There was no bid to try and woo them back after they lost the bid for LA, just a hurry up and GTFO.
