Why is it that you never see RichRod and Kenny Rogers in the same room?

I notice they waited until after the bowl game vs. Perdue.  A rather enjoyable mess that one was - nobody seemed capable of playing defense and a lot of huge and ridiculous plays being made.

man that happened quickly.  i was on twitter last night and around and this is how it happened

745 or so, "sources: Arizona considering firing RIch Rod"  (me: "WHATTTT?????????)
800:  "Rich Rod may be out at Arizona, according to sources"
820:  "UofA investigating sexual harassment allegations in sports program"
830:  "Rich Rod reportedly fired"
845:  UofA official account:  "We have terminated Coach Rodriguez after a thorough 10 week investigation"

i was at the UofA/ASU hoops game saturday night and thought he'd get some kind of recogniztion for the season and beating ASU but he was no where to be found (although Terry Francona was courtside).  And, his daughter is a cheerleader.  she wasn't in the squad.  wonder if it was 'just a thing' or if the school, knowing what was imminent, held off on any 'tributes' or whatever.

and his son is on the football roster (QB).  AWKWARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD

the school's statement was they were unable to corroborate the account of the accuser who is filing suit against the state, in part because she refused to assist int he investigation (translated:  all the inciriminating shiat she didn't give the school, she's keeping for her suit).

But, in investigating her matter, they found other shiat.  and Rich Rod's statement, he admitted to cheating on his wife.  so there's a bunch of stuff that isn't yet out, but it seems like there probably was something in fact there.

There were rumors of him getting a cheerleader pregnant while at West Virginia but I never really looked into it, I've always assumed it was just another one of the parting shots being fired back and forth.  Dude could have stayed home and possibly done something special but he screwed himself over with a particularly untactful exit. Anyways, we love him and always will.

I couldn't find it in a cursory search but when he was introduced at a Michigan basketball game, there was a sign with a number representing the number of days since a certain something happened. I like that dedication and it would have been rude to not inform him of his newfound place. Yes, he was well aware of the sign and we're exceptionally friendly like that.

Teeheehee, the dumbasses in that pic didn't have the slightest inkling of what'd be in store for them over the next decade. They have innocence to the point that I almost feel bad about it, thankfully that reprehensible feeling quickly makes an exit before I start to puke.

Cheating on his wife is not an offense to be fired for.  And I'm no fan of his.  If more does turn up, then so be it.  This looks more like, "We have some sort of reason to fire him for being shiatty.  Let's go for a nonpayout of his contract."

agreed.  just repeating what the school said:  in investiating the initial accuser, other stuff came to light.  what is it?  i do not know.

i got to meet him and his wife and Sean Miller back in april/may or so.  they were all really nice.  UofA hosted an event in Phoenix and my wife took me.  Rita was super, super nice - she took pix of us and my wife's friends.  and told this story before - it had just been announced that Shaq's son committed to UofA.  I noticed Miller was kinda cool and detached in meeting fans. he was nice, taking pix and signing autographs but he was a biatchecked out / distant.  friendly but not really all there.  when i twas my turn to meet him, i go, "congrats on landing Shaq's son!"  that broke the ice.  He looked at me and just beamed:  "He is the nicest kid. He's gonna be a great wildcat.  You're not gonna believe that kid.  I can't wait to start coaching him!"  he went from semi-robot to just gushing over shaq's son.

(who i think i read about 2-3 months ago, had decommitted.....ha.  fun while it lasted, no?)

things are starting to come out.  it does not look good.  teammates sending accuser dick picks, her complaining, rich rod doing nothing.

he asks her to get sideline passes for his sidepiece.  his wife finds out, confronts the accuser about what she knows about Rich Rod's infidelity.  she later gets reasssigned, fired or quits.  smells retaliatory if you ask me.

he supposedly gropes her and ries to kiss her repeatedly on several occasions.  a weird stroy about him asking her to get a specific pair of underwear for him, saying it "enhances his manhood".

he at some point calls her into his office and he's touching himself, "wearing the underwear in question, with his basketball shorts pulled up so she could see the underwear".  bizarrely specific allegations.

I looked for that cartoon a few weeks ago for something, you already know the specific one I'm talking about, but I couldn't find it for some reason.

This is an excellent article by the way, though as a West Virginia fan I wouldn't read it if you've been drinking and/or have any implements near you to hurt yourself with. All joking aside, it really is a very good article on one small yet very important historical piece of the beautiful tapestry that makes up college football. Owen Schmitt was and is my homeboy, a former walk-on FB with a Mohawk! He just might be my favorite player ever and he didn't even play for my team.

I do find it interesting, ricky, that RichRod's buddy from WVU, Wolfley; wasn't on the air today. I really want to hear his thoughts on this. At the same time, it wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't want to rip someone he knows personally on the air.

Yep, the investigation into the allegations brought out other stuff, like the fact he forced subordinates to lie to his wife to cover-up his affair, his triangle of secrecy that included his code that  "Title IX doesn't exist in our office."

All of this came up and they smelled an institutional control violation coming in the near future with him

And don't forget the basketball program is in trouble with the FBI.  And guess where the former Arizona AD, Greg Byrne, all of this happened under went early last year?  Alabama.  This is gonna be all sorts of fun when trouble 2000 miles away farks things up in Tuscaloosa.

if i'm not mistaken, not even a "buddy", but a roommate at WVU.  Rich Rod had a weekly call-in segment, as you may know, and I know just this season when UofA was at Colorado, there was a funny clip of the two of them.  Wolf asked something like, "you ever been close to Ralphie?"

(if one wasn't aware, the Buffs have an honest to god buffalo, "Ralphie", as their sideline mascot).

Rich Rod goes, "oh yeah.  several times.  All that snortin', kickin' his feet on the ground, all that huffin' and puffin', slobber comin' out of his nose, that evil look in his eyes....Hell, Wolf, he kinda reminds me of wakin' up next to you when we were roommates back at West By God Virginia!"

Wolf absolutely busted the fark up laughing.  uncontrollabe.

Is there a man on Earth that has that kind of status (somehow a college football coach ranks up there with CEOs and other special people) that DOESN'T abuse it? Is the accumulation of power that addictive? It never even occurs to me to whip my dick out and demand a hummer from random women.

I guess I just don't get it.

Normally I would agree with you, but that 07 WVU team was dominate in every other game except that one. In just that one game they looked clueless and incompetent and ole RichFraud ran to Michigan the next week. He purposefully lost that game to torpedo their chances at a national championship.

I agree.  But it doesn't hurt to tell someone else to look into it.  Unless someone else (Dudek) did look into it and that's why he came to Rich Rod with it.  I can't imagine his staff comes to him every single time a player complains about something, you know?

I didn't say on his hands.  Just somewhere close.  He had both the knowledge and the ability to do something about that and he chose not to.  Doesn't make him a murderer or anything, but it does make him a horrible person.

agreed.  you'd liek to think in retrospect that he did more, given that Hemmila died but as you said, you can't reasonably expect that every single time a kid isn't feeling 100%, tha tthere's going to be some kind of mass coordinated response.  but it still sucks.

my wife had partial seasons for a couple of years and got moved around the stadium.  one season, she had 2-3 home games right behind Hemmila's family.  they all wore his jersey and each game had a big ass poster of him with his picture on it.
